Uber Doom Challenge.

I am not exactly hosting a challenge here.
I am just currently playing this challenge,
and thought others might have fun trying
it too.

For kicks, I decided to revisit a challenge
game, that I had completed in ADOM 1.0.0.
It doesn't take forever, to have fun with
it, because of the difficulty involved.
Racking up many quick and bloody deaths is
just part of the fun!

Save scumming is of coarse not part of it,
but making a backup of an exp. level 1 PC,
and restoring him after a death is OK. This
keeps you from having to generate new PC's,
which can take quite a while.

Well the challenge is this:
1. Start as any lawful race/class combo.

2. Enter a wilderness square as soon as the
   game starts.

3. Remove all items and drop them.

4. Pray until you get the message "you feel
very bad" three times (the forth time
   would kill you.)

5. Pick up your items and lure children
from terinyo, kill them (or just attack
them and run away) until your allignment
   is neutral.

6. Again remove all items and drop them.

7. Pray to your new diety until they doom
you also (one will be enough, as two
   sometimes kills you).

8. Repeat step 5 to get a chaotic allignment.

9. Repeat step 7 to obtain one dooming from
   the chaotic diety.

10. Get your character un-doomed. By any
legitimate means possible. No save scum
or piety abuse. I guess dragon gold
    doubling would be OK.

11. Post some of the funniest or most unfair
deaths you experience. Post victory too.
(Those are a bit more rare though!)

For anyone who wants to try the challenge,
(but doesn't want to bother going through
all the startup steps) I have posted a
savefile of an 'Uber Doomed' High elven
elementalist at this link.

http://hyperfileshare.com/d/eed04118

I haven't yet played the high elven
elementalist as of posting this. But some
of my previous unfair deaths include:

1. Killed by dogs, trying to cross the
wilderness. (I was in coward mode
trying to run away, but HP's didn't
ever get to 1/3, just straight to 0
   in one turn.)

2. Killed by barbarians, trying to cross
the wilderness. (Never had a chance,
just ambushed and dead, just like
   that.)

And so on, for countless wilderness
deaths.

3. Killed by an out of sight missile
   attack in the puppy cave.

4. Completely unfair, I was killed by a
silver wolf in the puppy cave. (I
thought it was the puppy, so didn't
even expect to be attacked. One turn
   ended me!)

5. Even though wearing a ring of stun
resistance, I was PARALYZED by a ghul,
and quickly decimated. Again in the
   puppy cave.

And so on...

If you think this is tough, just think,
it could actually be worse. If you set
your system clock to a friday the 13th,
you would get cursed to boot!

Um, ring of stun resistance never works against paralyzation. You need an amulet of free action for that, to get paralyzation resistance.

In any case, a fun idea!
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Sounds fun, but are you sure the dooming really stacks?

I assume that getting doomed three times won't make you any more unluckier than getting it once. But if the challenge is called "über doom", three times is minimum :D
Also it's good that all deities evenly hate you, more challenge to clean the mess.

I tried this with drakish healer. Got neautral in wilderness when I tossed my scalpel at the sheriff.
Tried it at first with coins but he kept telling me "No bribes for me" :)

I died trying to become chaotic. Children didn't die to my acid spit and "Unluncky Ho" the drakish healer died to hit's of a farmer...

Ps. Attacking on the Terinoy folk makes you also cursed :P

Edit: Managed to get a 3x doomed drakish healer and Terinoy stayed calm even after I spitted acid at the tiny girl -farmer killed the panicking hostile girl *Bwahahaa*. I killed beggars and assaulted sheriff for N and C.

Silfir:
The unfair thing about the ghul paralyzing
me, is that in a normal game, a ring of stun
resistance will suffice, when fighting a ghul.
They usually only stun, not paralyze.

noob:
To my knowledge, dooming doesn't stack. The
challenge is to get undoomed though. If you
weren't doomed by all three dieties, simply
switching allignments would get you away
from the hostile one. This way you are
force to take at least one diety from hate
to 'very close'.

Sademar:
I didn't notice getting cursed when I
attacked the children. I just led them away
from terinyo, into the wilderness, then
attacked them. Also I was in true berserker
mode when doing it (as I find this is the
easiest way) so maybe that had an effect.
Children are much easier to fight than
farmers, or even goodwives.

Ghuls paralyze characters, especially with low PV, regardless of dooming. Dooming might increase the chances, though.

Does divine dooming really disappear when you change alignment?
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.

I had never been paralyzed by a ghul when I
wasn't doomed. I thought they only stunned.

Devine dooming doesn't disappear with allignment
change. Reaching 'very close' status will remove
it. It would just be a lot easier (and safer) to
start saccing, with a diety that is rather netral
toward you, as opposed to one that does actively
despise you. Thus the need for tripple dooming.

One more kind of unfair death:
Had a tension room full of gnolls, killed bunches
of them, with only a little trouble. Only to be
critically hit (by one of the very last ones) for
exactly all of my HP's.

I've been fighting ghuls with undoomed low-PV and low-DV early game characters for a long time, and I can assure that they paralyze you, yessiree. You probably just had more luck than me :)

I think every monster in the game can stun you on a critical hit if it takes away nearly all but a few of your HP. "You are stunned by the force of the attack!" Ghuls can do that, too.
You drop the golden ball.

I particularly like early game Ghul paralysation when trying to flee from claw bugs <grr>

Yet another completely unfair death:
Lucked out and found a neutral alter on
CoC level D:3. Carefully converted and
sacced enough monsters to almost get
'very close' status. Then I met a carrion
crawler, it hit me one time. Paralyzed.
Dead.
