And is it worth the amount of stuff you have to give up to get it? I've never been crowned before, and I have a character who got a favorable draw on locations of altars so I decided to take a shot. Problem is, I've pumped an unbelievable amount of crap (Moon Sickle, Big Punch, Phial of Caladriel, about 20,000 gold and probably about 100 monsters) into sacrifices and gotten nothing at all, other than messages of being 'absolutely close' to my deity. I'm a level 12 trollish monk who is N=. I've heard that I'm supposed to be a certain level ((artifacts * 3) + 8 or so) to be pre or post crowned. Is this also true for crowning? If so, that seems like a pretty harsh level requirement, especially for a troll character :-/ |

I'm not understanding your problem. You're completely eligible for a neutral crowning already. All you have to do is pray. You drop the golden ball. You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west. That's it... thanks! I didn't know I had to pray - I thought that crowning would be automatic once my piety got high enough. Since I only ever used praying to heal myself when I was nearly dead, I assumed that praying would always cost piety and always just heal me. I probably lost about 20k in gold and a crappy artifact too much because of that, but I'm still in a good mood. I'm running a fricking avatar of Balance now! Or something like that. |
