In all the games of ADOM I have played, I've only ever found 2 pairs of 7LB. The first time, I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but this last time they have converted a completely unspectacular level 9 human monk into the most powerful character I've ever had. A guy who pretty much imposed his will on the CoC - a level I've never passed before and only even gotten to a handful of times.

So I am a *big* fan of blessed 7LB and I want more of them. My question is, how do you guys seem to find them on a more common basis?

We don't.

Seriously. They're enormously rare. (Not sure about the danger level; if it's rather high, it's hard to find 7LBs in early game dungeons in any case - UD or the last levels of VD and PC are the best shots) Either I find it randomly, or I spend a wish on it.

Of course, there are a lot of methods to generate more items randomly (Treasure Hunter, gremlin bombs, killing lots of monsters), and the longer you survive, the better is your chance of stumbling across a pair of seven leagues.

Getting seven league boots before reaching the CoC is an extremely rare feat for me. Don't think it happened to me more than once.

Except, of course, for the cases where I started with an Heir-bard.

I'm a bit confused. Which level do you refer to as the "CoC"? If you talk about the Caverns of Chaos, you can't "pass" them, only get to the bottom. Are you talking about the Big Room, perhaps?
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

I frequently have to wish for them. They're very rare, and even if you find a pair they get easily destroyed. By the time you get to the casino though you'll normally find a pair or two (often a pair in the shop itself).

It's funny how 7LB tend to be found more from vaults (or is this only my imagination, but I believe it is really this way). PC:6 might generate one, I have got many 7LB early from there. Once I found totally THREE of those from greater giant vault.

From these rare items, 7LB seems to be most common. After some point of game I've found one without doubt.

And ohh yes! There is one quaranteed way to get 7LB! Start as gnomish bard and pick heir talent! :D

Yes, we don't. My last winner found one pair. On his way up from closing the gate. In a lesser spider vault I skipped on my way down :P

The thing is, we play more. A LOT more propably, so that 0,01% chance of happening does happen more times.

Also - the UD can generate them, one in about fourty characters I find fun acctually gets them. And then a vortex explodes in my face, taking them away ;)

If/When my 7LB get destroyed, I will cry. They ARE this character. I'm basically running a pair of 7lb that happens to have a monk attached to them.

This character does have treasure hunter, so that's most likely why he's got the footwear right now. I'm gonna start putting "getting the treasure hunter talent", higher up on my priority list as opposed to racking up stuff like Long Stride. If there's a lesson I can take away from this thread, that would probably be it. :)

I had meant the CoC Graveyard BTW... I should really not start ADOM threads and be on the phone at some call-in work meeting at the same time. :-/

I agree about the 7LB's/vaults relationship, it
doed seem to be that way. Perhaps it is my
imagination, but it also seems like some classes
are more likely to get them than others. I have
had great luck with classes like beastfighter and
monk. Of coarse, they don't benefit as much from
them as most other classes do, which probably
explains it.

Both monks and beastfighters have less need for them, as they get class-level powers that have the same effect. Especially the monk, with 600 movement cost.

It is known that wizards and priests find more spellbooks than other classes, so it is in fact very possible. I just played a priest, and he seemed to find a lot of water, too...but that could be superstition

Bottom line, don't cry WHEN you lose them, just get to level 12 and smile again, and then get level 18 and laugh.

And they are not THAT rare, I'd say that I have an above-average chance of owning a pair after casino is checked. Perhaps 75% of my games. I rarely use a wish for them, as I find wishes to be rarer than the boots, and first wish usually has to go to amulet of life saving anyway.

I usually find a few pairs each game (that is, when I don't die early).

I'm glad I read on these forums about taking off all other equipment, then reading blessed scrolls of protection and defense, to give the boots some DV/PV. Otherwise, it's a tough choice between them and some nice smithed up eternium boots.

Maybe in Jade there will be a class like "leatherworker" or "tailor" sort of like the Weaponsmith. Or maybe they can be skills you can pick up. Wait, didn't Thomas say there would be no classes in Jade?

That sounds pretty damn rare to me, considering how often my characters get to the casino (not very)

"I just got 6 pairs of 7lg boots from a 9x5 ancient red dragon tension room. Though 7lg boots aren't that rare, it's rather unusual to get them in heaps."

I found this(my own earlier post), so i'd say that ancient red dragons give away 7lb quite frequently ;).

I always get my 7lb by pools, yes pools. As long as of course there is an alter nearby, and a cooked/ blessed fire (monster) corpse in my sack because everyone should know how important the fire insintric is. I also make sure I have as many luck granting items as well.
I genrally see pools differntly as most of you other player.

Seven league boots are danger level three, so everytime you find a mithril weapon it could have been 7lb, but it wasn't.
