Nah. Booze plus wands should be enough teleportation for anyone.

I may be wierd for saying this, but I always do the water temple second, gives K more time to live. Also there is a 75 percent chance it wont do anything, but I second the consumption of the pixie.

Just want to throw in that the talk about doing other places first so we have a better shot at saving Khelly is now officially obsolete.

Or someone is planning to do mining and smithing along with dwarven quests (a.k.a. as ogre cave)

That is excellent new Silfir as we can now do the water temple, although I suspect, nay know, that someone would have done it first even if it meant killing K.

It is time for the arena, but I had to get past the animated forest first because we were on that quest - and as I had found the ring on the way and was about fifteen squares away from Khelly at that point, I decided to not take any chances and save him first, before some idiot fellow player decides to waste the wish on some other stuff.

Iridia now has the choice either to turn back immediately or go down and explore a bit.

Well, If we'd gone for boots, an ultra win would be much nearer - and amulet would still be obtainable through darkforge pools. Now he will die.

By that same logic boots are still obtainable through darkforge. Also an Ultra when we don't know what our first kill was? Ya right.

The thing with the boots is that you can find them any time and they are useful. An amulet of life saving has to be found by a precise point in the game.

Besides, with six more SoCR, we can scoff at the 90 day limit.

Also, what Narcolepcy said.

I suspect I would have killed Khelly with no
remorse. Well, actually I would have checked in
with the mystic first. If he gave SoCR, I would
have killed him, else I wouldn't have.

That brings up a point about alignment. I think I
tried N+ with my last merchant, and got training
potions. Does anyone know if there is an alignment
that would give us an edge.

Now we know why roman ocnsuls seldom lived long happy lives... First wish, if K is alive- so far for me it is 100% "amulet of life saving". Apart from the benefits of him being alive (not just ultra - also the TotRR) we get the SoCR and the two spellsbooks. And we actually got teleport from a \of wonder... so we can, like, bookcast teleport. For ever. And ever. And we save a life.
What is the obsession people have with 7lbs anyway? We can kill anything anyway. And we can teleport away...why oh why do we need the boots? Wilderness travel time? Tactical combat? Serisously?

Silfir, you found the ring, you made the wish. And you "have chosen...wisely"

All who disagree, find your own ring, muahaha.

Now I'm starting to wonder who has the guts to get this babe killed. She is doing pre-tty well.

EDIT: Disclaimer - last post written when serisously drunk at 4 a.m. My apologies. And I will try to get a life. Soon. Ish

Sulangatori's reply about swimming in the other thread made me fall over laughing :)

Anyone, congrats on the ring, and good job enforcing your will by using it before anyone got to choose otherwise. I would have been tempted by SLBs myself to be honest, but the SoCRs are nice to have (especially since the mystic hasn't been generous).

With regards the mystic, I used to think that N- gave a slight edge, but after recent games I'm not so sure. I think it's just random really - every N has the same chance. Those unided potions we just got are almost certainly insight, and it would be extremely helpful for someone to drink one and post the full results. We ate a fire bug corpse earlier, but that's not guaranteed to give resistance and it would be helpful to know soon if we have it or not (along with whatever else we have).

How did you find the ring anyway, Silfir? Lying on the ground? Was it unided as an ordinary ring? Tell us more of this miraculous event!

Oh, and we can't book-cast Teleport yet - not enough PP. Training mana a bit by book-casting magic missile should help.

Minor note: The potions of boost learning should be blessed and drunk before training with Garth, as it helps the base amount of Tactics you get immensely.
Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse."

It was dropped by an entirely unremarkable monster just after entering D:13. I think it was a giant bee warrior or something.

When it dropped a ring, I had the inkling of a thought "Cool, that might be a RoDS - HOLY FUCK IT IS A RODS!". Then I stood up, did a retarded victory dance, went back to the keyboard and picked it up.

I regret nothing. Nobody saw my retarded victory dance, and a spellbook of teleport is awesome.

Sadly, I cannot tell you what the RoDS was unidentified, since we are a ring specialist merchant. I already knew what the ring was the moment I saw it, which made it all the more awesome. I think it was white, so no ordinary ring... But the color scheme of winbeta confuses the hell out of me anyway.

Even funnier is - I always hoped I'd get the ring so I could save Khelly. I knew that someone out there would just not bother and kill him, and I didn't want that. Some immaculate entity must have granted me a favour!

7lb have nothing to do with slaying more (annoying) monsters or tactical combat or getting out of depressing situations (although they help). Main thing is time. Scouring the 40-levels of CoC after 90 days is retarded. Literally. SoCR is very good, but after 90 days you gain corruptions faster than you can read scrolls. Of course, she might make it before 90 days (although I doubt it), in which case those SoCR might come in handy.

Still have pools from darkforge, though (wasn't there an altar above darkforge?). I understand that amulet of life saving is important, but I think pools or dragon cave would have provided us anyway.

Darren, I believe your last comment should be more than just a 'minor note'.

Sulangatori - now we can look for seven leagues in the CoC levels below 16 too! I love the seven leagues just as much as everyone here, but getting the six scrolls from Khelly while clearing the path for further exploration is more important.

About the 90 day limit - I'm confident that in this game, people are not inclined to waste the little turns they do have, so that might actually not be that much of a problem.

Yes, time is of little consequence. Sad but true.
(extra corruption from spending more time) < (corruption removable by 6 SoCR) anyway.

I will not presume to say what next wish should be for. Find weakness, concentration, food preservation, 7lb, ring of weakness...all might have some use.

I'd still say 7LB. We're awesome in melee thanks to our sword even without Find Weakness, and we won't become awesome in spellcasting even with Concentration. Food Preservation is convenient, but unnecessary. Ring of weakness - sure, if you want to make the game boring... We don't need 99 strength to win.

a PoGA. Having access to the lower levels of the

Food pres - not much use; Concentration - practically useless with this class; Ring of weakness - no way; Find weakness - maybe, but we can live without; 7LBs - hell yeah, baby. Once we get our To to 25 potions of toughness can be worth a wish too.

I think, when the mystic jips a player, he gives
2 blessed potions of training and 1 blessed PoGA.
We will have to wait for Iridia to tell us.

If it is a PoGA, I recommend drinking it, after
eating ogre corpses. Of course we could horde it
for later, that might help more for the tower.

I'd wait till toughness is maxed before drinking it. We're a little low on holy water at the mo anyway. Mystic sometimes gives insight + training though, so we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, it is weird how on the 13th/14th we had a sudden spate of 8 updates within 24 hours.

Just as a warning, I may not be online for some portion of the next couple of weeks (going back to Ireland for a while). I should be able to give some immediate notice when that happens, but if you don't hear from me on my next turn or the one after I may need to be skipped.

Well a little bit of skipping flexibility shouldn't be too hard - we could have a "zero acknowledgment of the fact that its my turn for a period longer than 48 hours means that the player before me can forward the save game on to the next player" rule, and just bump skipped players to top of list once they resume posting...

Or we could just let the suspense kill us.
Not even sure which I prefer... Certainly getting a kick out of the suspense at the moment - keep refreshing my mail to see if Iridia made an appearance ...

EDIT:
One last thing: Awesome bit of Wishing Silfir, YEAH <thumbsup>

In the very early game, a bizarrely lucky wish from a pool in the UD for instance, I might just wish for the boots, but practically standing on Khelly's heea someplace below DT, with the K dude still alive, no chance. Just My 4 cents (adjusted for $ devaluation)
