Heh, "flog" can be slang for selling stuff too. Not sure if it's just British slang or not, but vogonpoet's very name is a reasonable indication that he might be from around here.

> Can you throw the crystals of darkness?

Unfortunately they will not create darkness if thrown.

> regardless, is the usual plan to just shoot missiles
> past them into the darkness (assuming they just stand
> still, which they should)?

You should feel no obligation to get the water orb. If
your uncomfortable doing that, just do anything else you
like, and someone else can get it. Having said that, I
think it is safe enough for you to do if you like.

My usual plan is to create a patch of darkness in the
tunnel you dig, to get to the temple. Lead the enemies
one by one, into the darkness and dispatch them with
melee attacks. You can stand outside the darkness and
shoot missiles in if you want, but it's no safer to do
it that way. The monsters will all stand still, and
not attack you. The only problem comes if a monster
panics.

The Snake is the only monster in there that is prone to
panic. If he panics in the dark, and has no escape path,
he will then be able to hit you. For this reason,
attacking him in the tunnel can be a little dangerous.
I think Rhea is tough enough to handle him in the tunnel,
but there is a safer way. Lead the Snake up the stairs,
with your tactics set to coward, and create a second
patch of darkness. If he panics now, he will have an
escape path, so you won't be in danger of being hit. You
can feel free to use the 2-hander to kill him there.

If he panics, don't try to melee him in a corner, he
will be able to hit then. Shoot a missile at him from
a few paces away, and he will come after you again. Lead
him back to the darkness and repeat until he's dead.

I do hope that no one uses these for gold doubling.

> Her toughness actually went down by 1 for some reason :(

By reading your report, I think you actually went
through the graveyard level, instead of digging
in from the right hand side. If that is the case,
it is likely that a vampire drained you a bit. In
fact, if you went through the whole mess of undead,
it's pretty lucky that Rhea lost only one point of
toughness. No problem getting it back though, it's
just two morgia root.

> I somehow had less hp than when i started

If the stats are all at the same level, and your
exp. level increased, it's hard to say. Perhaps
the moon cycle changed to dark/silvernight or
something.

And about digging through the right side, I definitely didn't think of that, last time i was there i just cleared the whole place for the lewt and exp.

Wow, that's a lot of progress recently. Already
bagged the water orb, cool. I notice that we
have some potions that could be drunk, The
potions of potential strength would be helpful,
if we plan to train with Garth. Too bad we are
all out of morgia : (

We got lucky with our first corruption, it
could have easily been 'poison hands'. I see
from the screenshot, that we have no thick
gauntlets, that could have turned out BAD. Thin
and nimble is probably the best corruption in
the game. I also notice that Rhea lost two
points of dexterity somewhere in the mix.

Poga don't raise the max unless its at its max, and we have 2, so don't drink the potentials unless you are going to actually train the stat. We also got some other stat potions in the stash I made. I don't like carrying valuable stuff I won't be using. We got enough moss we can easily retrain those points, highly doubt Soirana will do so though as dex is at the magic 25, so you'd need sickness or starvation.

Will play her tomorrow though, as I've got things going on right now, and don't really have the opportunity to sit down and play. Tomorrow morning or afternoon she should be done.

We are doing very well, Almost too well! Remember that savescumming is not allowed! Im not accusing anyone, but it seems weird that we have managed to get this far. Usually I get this far with only like 1/30 characters so why should we manage to do it with shared gameplay... Remember that once you die, you cant do antyhing for it then. Just be honest!

Anyways I hope no one is cheating here but thats it. Im glad to hear that we have passed the ToEF and Water Temple. I always do ToHK and ToEF together, just do we have climbing set for it?

Very efficient use of turns Soirana. Climbed all
the way to the surface, killed the ACW, avoided
item destruction, and no extra corruptions! Sweet.

Other jobs to do include collecting the RotHK and
clearing Darkforge. I would think the RotHK would
be the easier of the two, but with the penetrating
weapons Rhea has, who knows. I notice the BDSM
has degenerated by a couple of PV points, we
should be able to find better in the casino anyway.

EDIT: I just read the above posts. I personally
have not save scummed, and I would lay 100 to 1
odds that Soirana has not either. Think about
the fact that most of the players involved in
this game are, well ,lets face it, pretty good.

If you read through the HoF, you can see a number
of names you know from this game. The tactics
employed in each players turn are sound, and to
a large extent, in character with their past
games. If anything, the surprising success of
Rhea, is due more to the amazing items we have
stumbled upon, rather than amazing player skill.

Indeed though, there is no substitute for skill.

Hey peace... Im talking in general and I know you guys are "professionals" in ADOM (Im just one random nubs here). But I know that possibility of getting this powerfull character just like that is pretty small - There is so much things where you can screw yourself. But take it easy. This character is made for fun, play your best and dont take any pressures. :)

Well then I must admit that we have got really lucky and no one have scummed, and I will not talk about it then that way like you were.

If you have savescummed, it's your personal shame.

I don't think it's just luck that's gotten us this far, but also the fact that everyone is being ultra careful not to get a shared char killed. Overconfidence is not happening - we're all worried about dying. There's been a lot of preparation, and that really shows on the turn count. Also, we did a DarkForge raid, which means good weapons and armour - both help significantly (I actually would have preferred we try our luck without - challenge is far more fun).

With regards to the BDSM getting damaged, we should have a second somewhere. I'm clueless as to where all the stashes are now though.

Anyway, well done on the Tower, Soirana. Didn't think we'd have such ease with it, but learning frost bolt helps significantly (didn't think we could learn it either!) High Kings and DarkForge should indeed both be done before we plunge to the depths of the caverns. Rift is also an option.

Tone doesn't always come through 100% accurately.
Especially for those like me, who have the literacy
skill of a cabbage. The above post was not intended
to have an irritated tone, but a logical one.

On which turn was save scumming most likely to occur?
The first 2000 are by far the most dangerous, and I
think it's very unlikely that WorstPlayer...ever save
scummed. No knowledge of the first kill, indicates
quite a bit of honesty to me : )

After that, Rhea had reasonable amounts of PV for all
of her respective ventures. The only really dangerous
things she has done: Pyramid, Griffyard, animated
forest, water temple, and the ToEF has all been done
by experiences players. It just doesn't seem likely,
that Rhea has needed to be save scummed.

I'm going to play this soon, and likely spend the money on a crowning. Any objections to an N= crowning from anyone? We have no need for gravedigging, and lawful alignment is uneeded. Alignment shift in the late game isn't a big issue. Of course crowning won't give us much - a likely useless artifact, a no longer important immunity (I'll make sure it's not cold of course) and permanent blessing. Lower hunger rate will be nice though.

> Descended towards Dwarftown.

Was there still a stash of items on the level below
the big room? I was going to collect that mess for
sale also, but ran out of turns.

> But immediately a dwarven child stepped in and
> picked up the smith's hammer and anvil! Obviously
> a budding apprentice, but he was in my bloody way.

Reading that was hilarious. It's one of those things
that's funny to invision. A life and death struggle
between a vile greater deamon and a gray elven
champion of balance. Glod, the noble dwarven weapon
smith is cruely slain in the chaotic fray. A dwarven
child happens along. Paying no attention to the
violence and blood all around, takes a fancy to the
unguarded anvil. "Always wanted one of those!" He
manages to pick up the full sized anvil, (how?!) and
promptly gets slain for it. Let that be a lesson
for all dwarven children everywhere.

> Stupid me forgot to get smithing.

Not a big loss if you ask me. Sure, it would have
been nice to beef up some stuff, but who wants to
spend their turn putting a couple of points on some
helmet? Rhea is tough enough to not need it anyway.

> Sold huge amounts of junk (30 rocks anyone?)

That was most likely me. On my way through the big
room, I just started picking up whatever junk I came
across. She had the carrying cappacity, and it all
equals gold at Dwarftown. I didn't notice the rocks
though : )

> Crowning gift: Trusted One

Merchants have a 50% chance of getting a good one.
I was hoping for a Crown or at least the Boots. I
suppose that no one PC, can get the best stuff ALL
the time.

> As you can see we're quite lacking resistances
> - importantly acid

I had an ant corpse on my turn, I left it alone
thinking we already had -acid.

Humble suggestion, perhaps now would be a good time
to bless those scrolls of melee accuracy/damage. Maybe
applying the accuracy to the mithril long sword of
devastation (+0, 5d8+9). The damage scrolls might best
compliment the battle axe of penetration. Also, with
smithing out of the picture, the scrolls of protection
and defense should also be blessed and used. I would
say on the girdle, as that would be the piece of higher
metal equipment, that we are most likely to keep for the
rest of the game.

I meant passing the save file around of course ; )
