Roman Republic Game - Playing order. Remember: Entry is still open to anyone! (EDIT: Actually, kind of not anymore. Heh.) - To apply for a place on the list, just post here. The text should specify whether you want to play just for one segment, or whether you want to be placed on the list again automatically once you played your segment. - You must be registered in the forums to apply, and your email adress must be specified either in your profile or your appliance post, so people will know where to send the save game once it's your turn. - Those who apply first will also play first, unless someone who has played less segments applies at a point where you are not among the next two in the list. Example: I have already played three segments, and I already am third in line. If some guy comes along now who has not played a single segment and applies, he will get to play before I get to play. If I was already second in line, he'd have to take third place behind me. - The "protected zone" is there to ensure that a) people have some sort of safety when preparing for their segments and b) that no one will play two or more segments in a row - unless, of course, there's only one lonely applicant left... - I will post the list here and keep track of how many segments have already been played by whom, once there actually are applicants. For next game if there is any, allows a rule change for newbies. They subscribe on a different rule: - They get their turn, no save, no scummy. - Their turn stop at first save, eventually before the turn limit if they want. - When their attempt fail, they signal it, but it means only that their turn is skipped for this time. Some newbies errors thrown there and there would add some spice to the game! :-p |

Um, newbies can play anytime. The only challenge they face is surviving for 2000 turns - which isn't too hard with a PC that has gone through the hands of the more experienced players. I'm NOT in favor of anything that would essentially be equal to a savescum. Be bold - no one is going to rip your head off if you die, and your participation is certainly an experience you will learn much from! Also, slightly wrong thread. You drop the golden ball. Ok wrong thread but there's none open that really apply. I'm sure it's easy to survive 2000 turns as I'm also sure it's much more easy to do a disastrous error during the 2000 turns and even more when the game is in area and with monsters I never seen. My current char is much more tough than Rhea, better for anything plus has ton of mostly all spells and I can succeed kill it in few click! :-D I won't be such a fool to risk that when so many people are involved, I think you forgot since a long time your newbie days in this game! :-p [Edited 1 time, last edit on 4/6/2008 at 14:34 (GMT -5) by Doalag] |

I have an idea similar to Doolag's for a sequel to this challenge, but I'll not pitch it until a fair amount of time has passed after we're through with Rhea. Won't exactly be any more newbie-friendly though... I think there's nothing wrong with this challenge as is since you can spend your 2000 turns simply training up and improving the character. There's no need to explore further or put the character at any risk, and any such contribution to the character would be well appreciated by everyone else. There was also the option to join in for just one session early on if you didn't want to be invovled with later parts of the game you didn't know or feel comfortable with. Training with sickness on? My first cause of recent deaths!!! :-D Well I'll need install windows version, eventually try a little through emulation otherwise resign to switch a little to windows, too much hassle for just risking a training session! Darren, how about setup a game with pets? :-p |
