Bit of comparisons between classes.

According to Guidebook:

Archer...nothing spectacular except Sun's Messenger

Assassin, even less...Cloak of Oman is useful.

Barbarian...Vanquisher, Grod...both very nice, 3 chances out of 6 if non-elf. Rest not so great.

Bard..nothing spectacular, Cloak of Oman.

Beastfighter...Cloak of Oman, Bracers of War, Nature's Companion, Preserver. 5 out of 6 are good.

Druid...Nature's Companion, Purifier..rest not very good.

Elementalist....Brannalbin's Cloak of Defense, Ring of Immunity

Farmer...nothing really good.

Fighter...Vanquisher, Grod, BoW, Protector...not bad.

Healer...Robes of Resistance, B. Cloak of Defense, Preserver.

Merchant...nothing really good. Iron Crown of Havlor is nice though.

Midcrafter...B. Cloak of Defense, Robes of Resistance, Ring of Immunity, Iron Crown of Havlor,

Monk...Iron Crown of Havlor (nice for extra PV and Le for Monk), Ring of Immunity, Robes of Resistance

Necromancer...Preserver, Ring of Immunity, Robes of Resistance, Vanquisher..not bad set.

Paladin...Justifier, Perion's Plate Mail

Priest...Justifier, Purifier..that's about it.

Ranger...Nature's Companion, Sun's Messenger.

Thief...Cloak of Oman..even Whirlwind is not really good.

Weaponsmith...Bracers of War, Perion's Plate Mail, Protector, Ring of Immunity. Nice set.

Wizard...Brannalbin's Cloak of Defense, Ring of Immunity, Robes of Resistance. Staff of the Archmagi is nice but it's stave and you cannot use shield with it. Staff of the Wanderer is crap...

Soo..which Class you think gets best crowning gifts?

I think Beastfighter and Necromancer are surprisingly good in this aspect, having good chance to get something really useful. With farmer you are not getting anything truly great, IHO.

You're a bit harsh on Farslayer, aren't you? It gives even more damage than Sun's Messenger, and undead slaying is cared for by undead slaying ammo.

Skullcrusher for the Barbarian is definitely nice as well.

I have a hard time believing that no one gets Executor (arguably one of the, if not the best melee weapon around) as a crowning gift...

Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"

Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Perion's plate mail is awful - can't see why you put much value to it. I prefer a smithed up or ego eternium plate mail - if it gets damaged then it weighs so little you can have a few backups.
Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse."

Typical that my beastfighter missed out on such great stuff when I got crowned with him. He got the boots of the divine messenger back then. Which are okay, but nowhere near as awesome as the bracers of war or Preserver.

I also have a knack for getting crowned with Long Sting as a fighter.

Are we using the same guidebook?
I think the 'Boots of the Divine Messenger'
is a pretty good artifact, 7LB's aren't
guaranteed after all. I think the stats
are respectable at [+3, +3] {Dx+5}, and the
special properties can free up the necklace
slot.
It allows you to control teleportation.
It grants resistance to death attacks.
It grants resistance to paralyzation.

For archers, the Boots and Farslayer are
pretty good, and they compliment the class.

Assasins get a chance for the Emerald Dagger
and Executor! I *LOVE* both of these! If
given a choice, I would have to chose Executor,
over the emerald dagger, but the dagger is super
cool in it's own way.

Bards have a chance at the Boots, that can be
nice if they don't go the 'Heir' route.

Elementalist also get a chance for the Iron
Crown of Havlor.

Farmers get a chance for Skullcrusher.

Merchant's are also nicely complimented by the
Boots, and the Crown of Leadership.

Monks also have a chance for the Boots. This
compliments them nicely, as monks have less
use for 7LB's than most classes do.

Necromancers getting a chance for Vanquisher, is
almost a joke. May as well give beastfighters a
chance at it.

Paladin get a chance for Aylas Holy Scarf. You
don't think [+10, +10] {Ch+6} is a good gift?

Priest also has a chance for Skullcrusher and
the Scarf.

Ranger: Boots.

Weaponsmiths wouldn't really be complimented by
Perion's Plate Mail or Protector, because one
would expect a smith to SMITH something better.

Problem with Boots of the Divine messenger and Aylas Holy Scarf is that they occupy same slot as 7LB or Ankh. And charisma is about as useful attribute as appearance..:)

7LB are not guaranteed, but not rare.

I was trying to think stuff that is really useful for class when crowned.

I agree with Gut - how is the emerald dagger not useful for a PC? That is once serious knife. How many humanoids need slaying in the game? Quite a few. +Crit? Goodbye everything else. Would an assassin look cool wielding a permanently poisoned dagger?

The boots are pretty enormous, but as Sardaukar said - they occupy the slot for 7LBs.

Emerald dagger and Executor = win.
No one can justify not winning with a char that gets an artifact humanoid slayer.

What about Shirt of the Saints for priests? What was it, like a +8 Le bonus?
The emerald dagger was my assassin's gift. That is a GOOD assassin weapon. I was lucky enough to have Serpent's Bite and also an orcish dagger of penetration, which I gleefully dual-wielded.
You pick up the Wand of Do Nothing.
'z'...
Nothing happens.
't'...
The Wand of Do Nothing misses the kestral. Come on, it's a Wand of Do Nothing!

Problem with Emerald Dagger, IMHO, is that it's..well..a dagger...

You don't get much DV or damage from dagger..even though Emerald Dagger's secondary qualities are nice.

And if you get Needle & Sting, that dagger-training is nice too..but then..any character kicks ass with N&S.

Some of the crowning gifts I really like:

Vanquisher...need I say more. I have generally been disapointed with Skullcrusher.

Nature's Companion or Grod make ToEF lot easier.

Ring of Immunity..very nice.

Bracers of War, even more nice !

Ditto with Preserver.

Of course, when I play Monk, I tend to get crownded with Shezestriakis...

Skullcrusher isn't big on the raw damage output, but if you support it with the basher talents, it makes short work of anything humanoid. Grantedly, it's useless against the Ancient Chaos Wyrm.

Protector = win, has a resistance you can't get from pools, often making me waste a ring slot on it, and I have never smithed a shield as high as it, get it at level 8 = ez game.

Beastfighter gifts are win, you really shouldn't be disappointed no matter what you get. The speed and movement boni on beastfighters make it in my opinion okay to leave SLBs for wilderness travel and keep the wonderful, wonderful resistances of the Divine Messenger, especially for an all-lawful bf, who can't eat some blinky doggies.
