I pick up the gauntlets in the hidden room in the dwarven graveyard. They are supposed to be elemental gauntlet but when I wear them and cast revelation I see no changes. I also identified them bas casting en enlightenment spell but they are named gauntlet. Is all of that normal?

Cough cough, I cancel my question, I was using the wrong gauntlet! :-D Strangely it had the same stat than the elemental gauntlet.

All the gauntlets do, though I don't know if it's possible for rings to be destroyed the SAME turn the gauntlets are destroyed.

Like Silfir said all gauntlets protect rings. But since Elementals Gauntlets are artifacts they are never destroyed. I almost never use these gauntlets except for in the toef. 2 roi + Elemental gauntlets on make me feel completely safe for my eq (in combination with 1-2 fireproof blankets ofc :)

Why not use them out of roi? Currently I don't see any much better from the stock I have. I only see using for a special event a black dragon-hide to raise a little acid protection, eventually use one dex +3 but at this point I don't see any reason to not use them as standard gauntlet wearing.

Artifact gauntlets can't be smithed up. For
players like myself though, who find smithing
boring, the Elemental Gauntlets are nice armor.
I usually wear them through the whole game.
If I should happen to find Ironfist, I will trade
for that, but not much else.

Same here. Ironfist kicks the crap out of the elemental gauntlets anytime. Exceptional gauntlets of strength with four extra strength points are about the only thing taking precedence apart from that.

Indeed I too use the Elemental Gauntlets throughout the entire game unless I find something truly amazing or I need, say, some extra strength to clean out the Casino store (Killing the shopkeeper requires a very large number of advanced fireballs; he is deadly in melee and seems to have a long float for hitpoints, but he gives something in the order of five levels) or the dragon's horde, etc.

Shopkeeper difficult? He normally sells you the tools which allow you to give him a quick and easy death. Humanoid slayers make short work of him, and potions of blindness or confusion will make him a complete non-threat.

I just realized I've never killed a shopkeeper in my entire ADOM career. I've had a greater earth elemental companion kill Waldenbrook once, but I've never killed one myself... It's strange, but I tend to not see any sense in robbing shops. The most aren't offering enough that it would be worth it and you want them to restock anyway; and the casino... Why rob it when you can just rob the slot machines and buy your stuff? (Incidentally, who had the bright idea to make slot machines the house actually loses money on over time?)

Killing shopkeepers should definitely be avoided
until you have good diety relations, and by then
you should be able to afford most of what you
might like. Once your PC is powerful though (and
has curse removing ability) shopkeepers become
an amazing source of exp. points.

Killing the gift shop-keeper along with the AKW,
can really improve your chances to survive the
Archmage.

Yes, as a general rule it's better to let shopkeepers be; but after forcing a couple restocks killing the casino shopkeeper generally pays off so greatly in objects and experience that I'd almost recommend it to everyone. It can be bad for lawful types, though, and he is VERY difficult; I'm not sure all character types could safely snuff him, though Darren Grey suggests techniques I never even thought of that could very well make it universally worthwhile. I lucked out, the one time I killed him on THE NEXT FLOOR DOWN I encountered a GREATER VAULT of karmic creatures. Curse/Doom gone in record time.

Well, up until now my attitude to leveling was "level 50 will come early enough" and I think it will stay that way. I also am lawful most of the times.

What is curse removing ability? I recently was wondering how remove curse from a character and end in the (apparently false) conclusion that I had only karmic random corpse or going near to crowning.

Ok thanks for the precision, I never saw those scrolls and didn't noticed them in guidebook.
