Crowning always costs the same amount of gold (well, unless you're a dwarf - they get a 25% discount). You must have had a very high piety from previous sacrifices. Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse." |

It's very hard to calculate your piety score based only on the messages you get, and that's why it's very hard to calculate the amount of gold still left until you are eligible for crowning.
