After almost 2 years in this forum (most of
them as a reader only) and countless tips and
info I got here, I decided to dedicate my following ADOM-period to honor all of you, dear forum members, by putting myself a special challenge: For the next 4-6 monthes (untill I`ll finish my law school) I want to play characters which you will choose for me to play (gender, race, type) and they, of course, will be name
after your user name (or any name you choose).
I promise to dedicate at least 1-2 weeks of play
to each character (which means I can only play about 10 characters. sorry...).
If you want any special restrictions or role-playing rules to be applied on your character. I would love to try, as I consider myself quite skilled player, and to be honest, it will really help
to try something new (I`m shame to say I have
not played weaponsmith for example....). Feel
free to add any restriction, as for the worst case, it will be YASD...
I promise to try an ultra victory with every
character (unless you choose not to), and
to submit any victory to the HOF, withe a special
dedication to the forum member which the character is name after.
I hope you will all choose to help me to enrich
my ADOM experience, I will be so greatful if you do.

Gray elf wizard, name of gut jr. Roll him until
you get a starting Le stat of at least 24. Shut
the gate in < 45,000 turns. Restrictions, no
casino gold, no piety scum, no dragon gold
doubling, no pickpockets skill. That's it,
everything else is on the table.
Put me in the 'fool filter', where I belong!

jhonka named drakish male mindcrafter. No bows, no piety(praying, pre/post crowning), no herbs and ultra lawful ending. After fire orb has been collected, just bash enough eternal guardians to get lvl 45 and then kick ass with the twin daggers and rotm. Wear the crown of science for some extra challenge!

I would suggest making it raven and "scumming" for the trident since the limits only make difference in the beginning. mana can be trained with bookcasting stuff.

Funnest Win(s) I've ever had!

...the point when "true" power is felt is when you empty a greater giant vault in 23 turns(my record) while cursed and doomed with no help from your kickass equipment. Yes, there actually is a use for boost willpower and -mana potions!

High elven weaponsmith. Play him Silfir style: No ID except Filk, no gremlins, no pickpocket, no piety abuse, no intentional dragon gold doubling. You may use herbs however you wish, but no starvation or sickness training. No precrownings. Since you're a weaponsmith, you may smith. I've never quite gotten the hang of it myself.

Try to save Khelly in any way that is not scumming; i. e. play every location accessible to you (except the especially deadly, and the ID, as mentioned), drink pools. Get crowned lawful. Don't kill non-hostile NPCs except the ones in Lawenilothehl, Riurry or Kherab.

Engage and kill all berserkers in melee, no exceptions. You're out to avenge a family member of yourself that got murdered by a band of berserker emperors, and you have vowed to do this like a real man.
You drop the golden ball.
You kick the golden ball. It slides to the west.
Suddenly Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, appears! "That's not how you play Quidditch! are you even listening?"
Which direction? (123456789) 4
Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is hit by a bolt of acid! Harry Potter, the apprentice wizard, is annihilated.
You hear the ecstatic cries of a large crowd!

Asbestos, hurthling elementalist. Go straight to the Tower of Eternal Flames at the start of the game, avoiding all encounters, and do not leave until you have the fire orb.

Have fun :)

Ummm, I'm just a newbie here, but maybe you would find my "challenge" interesting.

jsr, dark elven assassin. Equipment restrictions: no melee weapons except daggers (even for resistance against that vortex attack), no shields, dual-wielding only. Possibly also no rigid "plate-type" armor - only flexible things like ring mails, chain mails, clothes (he-he-he) etc. Gameplay restrictions: no ID stairhopping, no "self-torturing" (stuff like sickness/starvation training, rings of weakness), no gremlin-bombing, no casino gold or dragon gold doubling. If you like offensive alchemy, try to make it reasonable. I mean, mixing two potions of water or stacking two burb roots for a huge explosion looks like nonsense and shouldn't be used, IMHO. Try more "interesting" components. And in general, don't abuse any useful feature. If you find yourself spending yet another week farming tons of herbs/mining ore/mining gems/pickpocketing, you're behaving wrong.

Oh, and another addition, if you're going to play this game: if you ever meet any ratling duelists, please make their deaths terrible, painful and slow. They deserve it.
Oh my, I'm so lonely and need some company

Ok then. I would love a PC in my honour:

vogonpoet - the antisocial bar steward.

PC: human archer.

Role play elements:

1/Everything to be killed on sight. Everything. On sight.
2/Suffer the consequences gladly.
3/Get to D50, kill everything, leave without closing gate, exit chain.

[[[No chatting to anyone. The first time you enter a unique NPC-containing game location, all monsters and NPCs you *see* must be immediately attacked (running away allowed in extremeley dangerous situations, but generally frowned upon :) ) You do not have to explore the entire level though (so for instance, if you dive down to the HMV, you can wander through the left hand side of the level, find secret passage, and leave, without seeing shopkeeper - you are bound to bump into Hawkslayer though, so again, I wouldn't rush down there too quickly).]]]

Further restrictions: no gremlin bombing.

Recommendations:
1/ Roll scum for Candle if you want - challenge pretty tough without it methinks.
2/ You might want to initially avoid all game locations containing shops (I chose human archer as thats pretty much the easiest R/C combo to slay Terinyo with at level 1, but would recommend you wait a while anyway).

Oh, and good luck with kitty tension rooms and the CatLord.
Bwahahahahahaaaaa

Orc Farmer, any name, any sign (sword for quicker marks and raven for 18th level trident prolly best choices).

What you can do:
-Absolutely abuse sickness and starvation as much as you can with as many herbs as you can.
As a farmer you can plant and grow herbs on any level, and you can use an "explosive growth" pattern to pretty much fill an entire level to save on game time and moves if you desire, although doing a few simple squares is easier and less risky, but more time/turn consuming.
-No time or turn limits for this game.

What you must do:
-Drink every potion of exchange you get, no using on cats or items, must find another way to get AoLS (raw chaos dipping is ok).
-Tame every cat and dog you can. You'll need to save all the bones you find, cook or buy some rat tails, and you can use survival + cooking for a good supply of fried fish for the tigers.
You don't need to bring them with you, but you should try to tame them, or if you ran out of materials, avoid killing them.
If you get survival up, you can use it to avoid any dog wilderness encounters.
Wolves and hell hounds are ok to kill since they can't be tamed.
I don't remember if rabid dogs can be tamed from my last farmer, so try on the first you find, and if it doesn't work, then you can put to sleep every Old Yeller you find as well.
The exception to this rule is facing one in the arena - there you should try to trap it or as a last resort, kill one.
You can also get moon sickle before doing the arena, so you can use that plus any potions to deal with cats/dogs in the arena to turn them into WMoPC before killing.

What you may not do:
-No Garth training.
-No stat potions or gain attributes.
You want to see how high you can get with just herbs/starvation/sickness and potions of exchange although eating stat corpses is fine (you can cook after all).
Not many corpses in the game will give you any stats once herb augmented though, unless that stat never got hit with one of your potions of exchange.

I wouldn't, however, recommend cooking anything except important stuff like orb guards, unicorns, blink dogs, and fish meat since cooking takes a ridiculously long amount of game time, and you'll fly past day 90 if you try cooking everything.
It's up to you though since this game has no time/turn limits, and farmers get less corruption to help offset post day 90 corruption anyway.

Good luck!

Troll Merchant.
Finish the game with only coins and rings of ice equiped.

- Crown early to see if the toon is even viable
- You may wear the above items in any applicable slot. That is if you feel like bashing with a ring of ice - go ahead.
- You may adopt a pet, use items from the backpack, cast spells. You name it.
- No. You can't put on Ring of the High Kings.

Any lawful race/class combo that lets you start some flavor of L at the beginning.

Apon entering the drakalor chain, PC should immediately go to the caverns of chaos, stopping nowhere, killing *NO* monsters. PC should proceed in the CoC until moon sickle is generated. After this point, the PC may *only* kill writhing masses of primal chaos.

I'm not exactly well-versed in some aspects of ADOM, so tell me if any monsters are impossible. =)

had to create a new post cause the edit function isnt working for me...

revision to the above challenge:

Pets, traps, Wands of Destruction, or any other means of destroying monsters without the kill showing up on the PC's kill list is *not* allowed. In other words, a PC cannot intentionally kill or destroy any monster that he/she is aware of in any way unless the monster in question is a WMoPC.

i guess a name would be the purpleJ challenge. =P

EDIT: another idea...the ending should be as follows: the chaos gate is closed; the PC must kill itself by becoming a WMoPC.

Hmm, I guess wizards starting with teleport and invis spell books might be able to get to moon sickle without killing anything... no TCtrl though, unless you get lucky with a ring or a pool... maybe mindcrafter better, using confusion to escape corridor blockings:

Once you sort out how to get out of
###############
h...f.@..g.....
###############

situations (note: without killing anything at all, so not a trivial task at all), your main main problem will be finding enough potions - moon sickle is a pretty decent weapon, so you can't just stab people with it until they become WMoPCs, they will become corpses much faster - you will have to throw potions at them instead... I guess if you find a potion shop which you can kick rob it might just about be possible somehow. Oh wait, you can't kick rob a potion shop, you end up smashing the damn things... you need a potion shop to restock, and another shop to kick rob to generate the cash. All in all, tricky.

It's impossible because of the orb guardians. If transformed into WMoPC (if that's even possible) they won't drop the elemental orbs. Asides from that it would be ludicrously hard anyway, and not particularly fun to play. I don't think it's a nice idea to suggest challenges that you wouldn't enjoy playing yourself :P

Indeed - the kill list would still look pretty cool - just the guardians and the WMoPCs, but really, it would be totally tedious even trying...

Unlike my antisocial archer... just slayed Terinyo with my own version, now need to head to the Pyramid, then maybe train up a bit in TotHK, and hope to find a hatchet, before much anticipated trips to bandit and dwarf towns :)

Still not sure what to do about LoS and cavernous levels - bit of common sense required I guess.

Well, I would only go with some rule like you kill what's in front of you. Enemies that respawn in already explored areas aren't as important.

ok i've thought of a couple new rules...

1: you start out with max 50,000 turns to collect as many potions as possible without entering any levels below the DH or animated forest (just to make sure you dont accidently generate moonsickle until after you're ready with all your potions).

2: During this time, try to avoid killing any monsters. pets, WoDs, traps, etc can be used to kill enemies. just try to avoid getting things on your kill list.

3: After generating moonsickle, the rules change a bit: now, neither you nor your pets, etc may kill or destroy anything that is not a WMoPC. Running away is always an option.

4: Orb guardians must be killed as they are.

5: the following ending must be done: close chaos gate, corrupt self until you die by being a WMoPC.

6: Your kill list at the end of the game must include the following:

a: at least 100 WMoPCs. (is this too much? im not really sure)

b: snake from beyond

c: ancient chaos wyrm

d: master summoner

e: chaos archmage

that should be just about it.

again, please give me some feedback, i'd like the challenge to be hard, but it should be fun =P

To be certain of avoiding MoonSickle, no going below Dwarftown at all methinks.

Clearing D:50 usually involves killing around 60 (?) WMoPC, plus you can generate them with corruption traps as well as potions, so 100 should be easy.

A bard with a decent (ie buglike :) ) pet could play Trinity-esque until they get a WoTrapCreation, then create loads of corruption traps in the big room (watch out for rats) and eventually start leveling up fairly easily... (I had a first kill WMoPC in the SMC take me straight to Level 6)

I`m glad to say Gut Jr. finally did it, and within less the 38,000 turns!
Thank you gut for a very fun challenge. I must say the toughest part was killing the, ACW, as
I never had much problem with him before, this
game I`ve lost 4 chars for his energy rays.

anyway, here`s the edited flg:

> and within less the 38,000 turns!

Sweet! Don't you just LOVE the DV bonus that you get from having the shield skill at 6, even when wielding Protector : ) With any other PC, it would be more like 12!

> became a great ruler while saving himself 3 times.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you can't save the game. You must get the line about 'not even stopping to save himself'. You'll have to do this agian.

> He scored 54755328 points

That's enough to get you near the top of the HoF.

> He survived for 0 years, 26 days

Wow! I don't think I have ever done that before.

> He asked for 15 divine interventions.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention. You must never pr- *ducks*

well, actually I put the blame on this one on my ex-girlfriend whom I broke up with during the challenge...
first save was before Khally (I`v suffered *too* many crushes while taking to him, so I never take the chance), 2nd and 3rd were to try to win my girl back (I still couldn`t)... man, I wish I have RoDS to make things easy with her...

> He survived for 0 years, 26 days

>Wow! I don't think I have ever done that before.

My track was SMC > Bug tample > CoC, and the SLB
were on the 3 level of CoC. I did 2 trips outside the CoC, one for the pyramid, graveyard
and ToHK, and second for ToEF and Darkforge.
didn`t wasted time on ID, UD and so, only went for white unicorn quest after I closed the gate, to clean my self (no SoCR or PoCC for the entire game). By the way, it seems that if you talk to the druid for the first time AFTER you close the gate, he wont send you to kill the black druid, and only send you to find the white unicorn.

By the way, next one is Jhonka`s challenge.
Jhonka, 2 questions about the challenge:
1. I didn`t understand if I had to go for the ultimate ending or I must not?
2. Do I must kill EG? Can I pass it with RoHK?
What if I make it to 45 before meeting him (water dragon, ID)?

Damn, very impressive victory there. I'm guessing this is now dominating your high csore list by a mile? 26 days is extremely impressive - possibly the best I've ever seen in fact. Wyrmlance dropping whilst bolting bugs at the start is very funny :)
Waldenbrook, the dwarven shopkeeper, mumbles: "I'd offer 9 gold pieces for yer dwarven child corpse."

To Elraz: the jhonka challenge(more defined)

Char: Male drakish mindcrafter
1. Ultimate lawful/neutral ending(both will suffice)
2. Level to 45 as fast as possible
3. collect rotm from cat lord and daggers from lower coc
4. Wear Crown of science(dooms and curses and is the best helmet PV/DV vice)

to kill list:
-casino boys
-akw
-water dragon
-EG(atleast one, pass with rothk later)
-all the nessesary for ultra

Just to make it less irritating, minotaur emperor and malakai can be left alive.

The restrictions are:
no piety, besides crowning; no herbs; no bows; no smithing, mindcraft and the found equipment should be enough!

some pointers; Black unicorn might give 9 poga, garth training is ok, farmers can be killed with acid spit if no other monster is in vicinity w/o making the whole town angry, the only way to train mana is bookcasting, since mindcraft does not and GMB does wonders!

By the way, as last of the honor challenges you should do a truly malicious char:
1. Scum
2. scum some more
3. make ring wish engine if you must!
3. iit lotsa bugs, methinks juu shud go fast
29. kill evirione(I mean *EVRIVAN*)

The most evil char would probably be dark elven necromancer and as a bonus they can be made unkillable. hahahahhahhahaahaha.(this is something that i'm doing right now)

Well, the jhonka challenge doesn`t go well so far. I hate mindcrafters!
After about 12 dead characters, my best so far died on the graveyard.I`m really having hard time with the restrictions about cats and herbs, as inthe past I only got the RotMC 4 or 5 times,
and O always use massive herblism, including to gain piety.
I must say there are few things that do concern me in the my future attempts of this challenge:
- EG - I hate fighting him! and with few spells it will be even harder! can I even pass him using RoHK after I kill one?
- Water dragon - never liked to kill him without using LB or at least slaying ammo...
- Andy. can I hurt him with mindcrafting>
