OK, stupid question of the day/week/month:

What would have to be done in order to obtain the lowest possible hit point total, in terms of negative hit point magnitude?

I'm guessing it would either be done by a low-level character casting a wish...either that or a group of moloch-armor-clad greater molochs ganging up on a character.

Possibly a wizard overchargning a wand? It does nasty things.

I guess the lowest you could get would be a wizard with 99 Wi casting Magic Missile with extremely high effectivity (over 100) in a tunnel. About 40 Wi with ~30 effectivity took me down to -200.

How about a PC with 99 Ma firing a wand of far slaying in a corridor?

Kicking a wall while wearing =oWeakness would be a winner. I got around -50000 or so HP.
I think this is a bug.

No kidding... Though it would be interesting to get into position after wishing for the EM, then cast Slow Monster and get to Overburdened! with spd- equipment on... Boots of the Slow Shuffle anyone?

The PC's speed has no influence on the moloch wearing moloch armour. The bug does not increase their speed, but gives them a one time bonus to their energy.

Is it a certain death to witness this event? I've never seen it happen, actually I've maybe once seen a moloch armor.

Just in case it sometimes happens so I know what to do.

it's not certain death. As Maelstrom said, the molochs get a one time bonus to their energy, If you manage to get away, teleport somewhere safe and far away from the moloch and just wait

does the moloch energy boost wear off eventually? I waited for some dozen turns behind a river and atleast at that point the GM was still moving some 10 tiles/(my)turn.

I don't think it's any sort of boost, but a game bug. The molochs speed is so low that equipping the armour would make it negative, but instead it wraps around into a big number. So kind of like the bug with piety.

Energy wears off by definition :P Speed is how much energy you get per in-game turn, your actions deplete that energy (1000 per action by default).
Molochs get a giant boost, but they still have a speed of 60-something, so they just move as fast as it's possible until they run out.

So it really is a feature? This one monster equipping one item gives them superpowers, what's the logic behind that. IMO the bug definition sounds more plausible but if it's supposed to be that way then I guess that's ok too.

Heh, quite a topic derail again, happens on these boards a lot I think.

Happens to whatever topic I post in, it's a feature of mine, not a bug ;P

The boost is a bug, but one that should have been fixed and was, but it didn't work - at least that what it looks like now. I recall that the speed of the moloch didn't change if you looked him up in monster memory.

In earlier times I guess it was a speed underflow - the fix made it a one-time boost, which is unfortunately usually enough to still kill the PC, but if one can get in a teleport to a safe place, he can at least wait until the moloch in question has used up all of his boost.

So it's a bug-turned-into-feature? Wow. Is there a special warning message you get when a GM equips a moloch armour?

the greater moloch hits you x18
... you die

I'm betting that one, if you miss the equip bit. Tho I think this is a problem for the reckless "hold that button down while berserking greater molochs" people. (no, not me)
