Ok, it's true, you lose white or gain black stones from attacking or killing a blink dog. This is only half common knowledge... however i just learned something that isn't. Talking to a hostile lawful will lose black or gain white stones.

You have a vision. You see a huge scale. On the left side there are 2258 black stones. The right side is empty. The left side of the scale weighs more.
The blink dog barks in anger! The blink dog misses you. The blink dog fails to hurt you. The blink dog fails to hurt you. The blink dog misses you.
You have a vision. You see a huge scale. On the left side there are 1961 black stones. The right side is empty. The left side of the scale weighs more.

This was the most extreme case i got from talking to hostile lawfuls. This was with a L25 troll merchant talking to a hostile summoned blink dog.

Any dwarven PC will gain a relatively large lawful boost from talking to hostile dwarves (Dwarftown doesn't count, I think)--enough to trigger the Law skill, anyway.

I'd guess it only works the first time you talk to a given hostile lawful, though. (Otherwise it would be too easy to get to L+.) I tried talking to Blup's mum a few times after stealing her stuff, and only felt as if behaving in proper form the first time.

something i found to be usefull, leave the pupp untill you need a SERIOUS lawfull boost...like lv 28 or 30, say trying to grab courage, get the trident, whatever, giving the corpse of the puppy to the girl gives a big L boost, and you dont need it early in the game....the Carpenter is much easier early, geez the idiot follows his shadow, and give a good early boost, but the puppy isnt going anywhere, walk in lv6 of the PC with a sword of sharpness at lvl 10, um the vaults arent so scary...
and the chaotics can still cook it in front of her <EG>

note: the amount you get for your lawful boots during the game is reduced the higher your level is.

I generally keep it tho for when i need crowning when doing an ultra ending. But i make sure you get to as lawful as an alignment as possible before giving her the corpse, amulets of order and altars can get you most of the way.
