I've heard that one of the requirements for getting the platinum girdle is to never commit a chaotic act, but I'd like to know a bit more detail about that. For example, attacking a peaceful monster is chaotic - but does it only count if you get the message "Really attack (y/n)", or is attacking a neutral tree in the Animated Forest chaotic too?

Someone on the newsgroup said that if you want to kill a peaceful monster (like the crime lord) you can zap it with Stun Ray to turn it hostile and that isn't chaotic. Is that true? If you zapped it with a combat spell like Magic Missile, would that be chaotic?

Is stealing from Blup's mum a chaotic act? Is gambling in the Casino?

The Kranach quest seems to have strange effects on your alignment. IIRC, if you're already lawful it makes you more so (you're doing it to uphold the law), but if you're neutral it pulls you towards N= (you're doing it to even out the balance?). I'd guess that means don't report back to the sheriff while you're anywhere between N= and NL.

All I remember about platinum girdle is that if you want it you must never train pickpocketing nor apply it. And never attack non-hostile monster. You also must be champion of law and (IIRC) never completed chaotic quest.

I read that one requirement is to save Khelavaster.

I tried the platinum girdle challenge for the first time yesterday, but I got surrounded by a pack of blink dogs, had to kill one of them, and quit because this was surely a chaotic act. Are they always peaceful towards lawful characters? (I was still only neutral.)

Does it matter what your starting alignment is? I.e. can you get the platinum girdle if you start chaotic and become lawful during the game?

Is it really a chaotic act to attack a blink dog? They are almost always hostile, I'm pretty sure also to lawful characters. So it's very difficult to avoid attacking them.
I don't think that the starting alignment matters. I'm right now trying the platinum girdle challenge with a dark elf.

I think it's a chaotic act to kill a lawful monster, even in self-defence. (Not very chaotic, but still chaotic.) Lawful monsters that can start hostile are blink dogs, dwarves, ki-rin and Solars.

IIRC blink dogs can be tamed with bones.

Hostile blink dogs for lawfuls? Only if they are summoned. All Lawful monsters don't attack lawfuls if they don't have to (arena, summoning etc.).

Re I'm back after a long time...
About pick pocket... This is a chaotic act if you use this skill on nonhostile or neutral monsters

Back after a *LONG* time!!!

I just wonder if it's a chaotic act if your companion kills a lawful monster which is hostile?

Once one of my characters' companion attacked the sheriff, that was a chaotic act! Want to read good jokes, go to geocities.com/cangrossett, and look around
