For some reason, last time I tried to complete an ULE I was destroyed upon entering the chaos gate - I still don't know why since I am positive I did everything correctly! Completing this ULE was, therefore, extremely satisfying! All in all there was nothing too out of the ordinary about this game. For the early game I completed the puppy cave, took out Kranach, proceeded through the SMC and UD - then onto the CoC and Thrundarr's quests. En route to the dwarven city I was lucky to find a lawful altar that would play a prominent role. Drinking from the pools in Darkforge resulted in permanent invisibility that proved extremely beneficial - particularly for strolling through the BUGCAV! The luckiest point in the game for me was draining all the Darkforge pools in vain for a wish - only to discover that a water snake I had killed in the process had dropped a wand of wishing!!! (without charges - although I managed to wrench out that one desperately needed wish to get an AoLS and save Khel). The rift and ToEF were completed quite easily - even though the latter resulted in the destruction of three fireproof blankets (two of which were blessed!!) With the orb of fire and RotHKs I saved Khel and descended until I got the RotMC. At this point I was still looking for a scroll of danger having already secured the potion of cure corruption (presenting Keethrax's corpse to Guth'Alak) and wand of monster creation. I continued to descend, hoping to find the much needed scroll of danger in the blue dragon caves. By the time I hit the caves my experience level was still fairly low (late 30s) which ensured that the ULE was still viable. The much needed scroll of danger was eventually found in the blue dragon caves and I raced to the surface to search for a giant boar skull. Eventually I secured one (fortunately did not need to use dooming and cursing - although I was getting a little desperate!) and quickly satisfied the demented ratling and the old crone. Now it was only a question of trying to get to L+. The lawful alter in the CoC helped get me to LN. Thereafter I used a blessed amulet of order and killing ancient blue dragons in the blue dragon cave to get me up to L+. In the process of scumming the blue dragon caves I was lucky to pick up a RoDS and another wand of wishing (this time with 3 charges!) I immediately wished for a girdle of giant strength and food preservation (I didn't bother wishing for an AoLS since I already had preserver, and because it was so late in the game I didn't bother wishing for seven league boots either). Having finally got to L+ I immediately sacced a ton of gold and got crowned. Then I took out Keriax with death ray and feasted on his corpse before killing the greater black unicorn for Yrruir (in hindsight I should have taken out Yrruir and got the PoGAs - but I was worried about ending up as a fallen champion). To get to level 45 I took out Nuurag-Vaarn using the AMW and an amulet of death resistance for protection. The chaos archmage was a little trickier than I had expected - usually he is more aggressive than he was in this game and can be destroyed more quickly. In the end acid ball proved decisive. From there it was a simple matter of assassinating Filk (didn't bother killing the AP since I never intended to use the twins) and acid balling the EM. Having secured the TotRR I scummed the quickling tree for corpses using the guaranteed barbed trident of hunting from the BUGCAV. Before making my final descent I had all my corruption removed by Yrruir. D49 yielded the RoR thanks to a potion of uselessness - a very welcome artifact gift! D50 was a breeze - acid ball annihilated everything. When I stepped into the chaos gate I was still corruption free with over a dozen blessed scrolls of chaos resistance, a handful of potions of boost strength/toughness as well as two spare wishes (three if I wrenched a final wish out of the wand of wishing). Frankly, I was shocked by how quickly Andor Drakon went down! Having entered the chaos plane I immediately dropped the crown and medal of chaos, drank all stat boosting potions and wished for speed (once). A simple torch provided light while a potion of confusion effectively sealed the chaos god's fate. As Andor stumbled around I simply obliterated him with the TotRR and tactics set to beserk. He never stood a chance: I only gained 1 or 2 corruptions (easily cleansed) and Andor never hit me more than once or twice. To be honest, the final showdown was pretty anticlimactic and, in my opinion, Andor Drakon should be a LOT tougher!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Screenshot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ # ####### ### #### ###### ## ####### ####. ...#.###.###.#.###. ..###.......... #..#.. #...#..#.#....##..##....#...#. #... # .##..##.##..#.##. ..#.......#.#. . #.## .. ........ # #.###.......#....# ..# #..#.##.# ### #.#... . # #. ..#..... # ### ...# #..###..#..# .#.# # # #.......#.# ...###.# ##..###.... #. .# ##. ..#....#.# .#.....# #...#.#....#####.####.##. .##..#.## #.#.#. #..##.#.####. . ##..# ###.....#.##....## #.##.#.#.#.... ## # .#... .##......###.##. #.#.....#.... #..# ##.#. ##....##...#..... #..#.# #. #...# #.#....##..# #...#. # ##..## .......# #...#.##.###..... ##......# #..#.[......##jj# ..C#..# #.#....#.. ##. #j.j.###.#...#### .#.....#.##...# # ##.jj#...##...... #....#.#..#. #...### . #.@....# ..#.#..# ######### # #### ##################### ## Beggar St:60 Le:33 Wi:32 Dx:99 To:78 Ch:25 Ap:15 Ma:77 Pe:35 L+ DV/PV: 57/58 H: 923(933) P: 74(1194) Exp: 50/27835492 ChAoS Sp: 395 Blessed Invisible Satiated Berserk // Only toughness, strength and speed was boosted above normal. All the forces of Order seem to be united behind them. You are lifted to the status of an Avatar of Order and the tales of your deeds are spread all over Ancardia. Your deeds are recounted at camp fires and interpreted by philosophers and priests alike. The common man looks up to you and you slowly start to be revered as a minor power of Order. After a few millennia have passed you are raised to the position of a demi-god to guard and protect Ancardia from the forces of Chaos and Balance forever. Under your guidance Ancardia becomes an orderly and organized world without striking changes. Peaceful order (and boredom?) spreads and the world enters an era of peace and tranquility never again leaving it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- His achievements during his adventures: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beggar, the gnomish wizard, transformed into an avatar of Order.
