My best attempt at the Paragon of Order challenge yet.  When
attempting this challenge, I also try to do every good deed in the
game (save the puppy, the mad carpenter and Khelavaster, and reunite
Blup with his mum).  I play Bards so that any hostile blink dog can be
tamed.

Things went well to begin with, as I was born with the Concentration
skill and managed to save the puppy and kill the raider lord.  I also
found lots of useful herbs in the UD, and several useful shops along
the way including a potion shop (which meant that holy water wasn't a
problem despite my not being able to pick pockets).  Although all
Khelavaster's SoCR were destroyed by a lightning vortex, I luckily
acquired Stealth from a potion of education, meaning that I could do
the Rift and get the weird tome.  Also, being lawful seemed to mean
that I suffered less from corruption than the typical neutral
character.

However, I got stuck at the Eternal Guardian because I couldn't find a
wand of cold or spellbook of Frost Bolt and had unwisely thrown away
my manual of bridge building.  I cleared out everywhere I could get to
without finding one, even the bug temple, for which I did not feel
entirely ready and where I lost several points of Mana from
overcasting spells.

Being a paragon of order, I did not try to steal anything from the
water dragon's lair for fear that it would be considered a chaotic
act.  I also did not want to have a pet kill her, because that would
negate the benefit of reuniting her with her baby.  But I thought that
with the aid of a suitably tough pet, I could lure her away and then
loot her lair.

So I went back to the HMV and gave Hawkslayer some armour and then the
secret password.  To see how tough he was, I set him on the
shopkeeper, but this proved rather difficult for him and I had to zap
him with Cure Critical Wounds and Heal a few times to keep him alive.
So I decided to train him up on someone a bit easier, and set him on
Gaab-Baay instead.  She turned out to be even worse, though - she
poisoned him and he refused my potions of cure poison.  As I was
frantically trying to keep him alive and lead him to the safety of the
wilderness, she caught up with us and killed him with an energy ray.

I checked my equipment and discovered a scroll of familiar summoning,
which I blessed and read in DH:2 in hopes of obtaining another strong
pet - it gave me a greater earth elemental.  After my experience with
Hawkslayer I wanted to train it up a bit, so I had it kill some random
people in Dwarftown.  At first nothing bad seemed to happen as a
consequence, but when it threw a huge rock at a dwarven guardian, the
alarm gong was rung and I felt as if transgressing some law.  To atone
for having committed an evil act, I went into the alleyway and
committed suicide with a bouncing magic missile.
