He was forced to drink from the darkforge pools in the attempts to produce an
amulet of life saving.
At the beginning of the adventure, after killing a bandit in the outlaw town
and locating the stairs and a waterproof blanket in the small cave, Grak walked
through a room in the first level of the puppy cave where he felt contained an
evil presence. On the next level however, he felt a surge of power. Around the
corner he found it was a shadow guarding the tome of Alsophocus. Grak didnt
think he was experienced enough to vanquish the undead guardian with his scythe,
so he cowardly evaded the shadow, grabbed the book and ran off down the corridor
with the guardian in pursuit. He came to a dead end and while searching frantically
for a hidden door, and the shadow guardian hit him several times, draining his
strength. He found the door and stumbled through down a stairway to the next level,
the relentless shadow still in pursuit, when he felt another surge
of power! He realized he wouldnt be able to stand up to two guardians in melee, so
he stood his ground against the shadow. He expected death, but surprosingly the
guardian was not as powerful as he had beleaved. Drained, but not dead he emerged
victorious, but weak. He then found a giant caterpillar guarding a sling. The
caterpillar was also a weak guardian, and Grak aquired a valuable item that saved
his life in the encounters to come. His scythe was unfortunately the best pole arm
he found in the entire adventure when it reached time to venture Darkforge. There
were only three treasure graves in the dwarven cementary, and they all bore
uninteresting items. So, Grak relyed on his beloved sling "Whirlwind" to dispatch
the powerful steel golems, while forced to spend 5 blessed potions of extra healing
by the time he finally reached the weapons room, and threw away his scythe for an
eternium halberd. Later, he collected many spenseweeds which were a life-saver in
the Tower of Eternal Flames. Grak was determined to become the ultimate chaos god,
and he knew from his visions that he had to aquire an amulet of life saving if he
hoped to achieve his goal. The time had come, and he concluded that his only option
was through yeilding a wish in the pools of Darkforge, where he met the grim
reaper and succumbed to death...
