NOTE: this file may contain comments or information that is considered SPOILERS, if you do not wish to learn this information pleace leave now. This was my first victory in ADOM 1.1.x. It started off very well; I found a neutral altar and lots of herbs in the UD, and also picked up a pair of SLB early on. There were a few rivers in the early dungeons, which wasn't so nice, but fortunately Drakelings can swim. I found an RoDS in the dwarven graveyard, which went on AoLS. The Dwarven Halls were rather tough. An ancient black dragon almost killed me, and an annihilator ate my only pair of SLB. Fortunately there was a ring shop on D:22, and I bought an RoDS from there, and used it to replace my boots. The Bug Temple is really hard now, and if I hadn't been able to zap the bugs from afar most of the time and retreat from them when they got too close, I would never have survived. Even as it was, I got surrounded at one point and was forced to pray for healing. On level 35, I found a greater fire creatures vault, which I cleaned out efficiently with ice spells. It gave me tons of gold and enough experience to do the unicorn quests. Since I had plenty of SoCR (the librarian gave me the weird tome), I did Riurry's quest, and he gave me _nine_ potions of gain attributes! I then went and fed the ratling, but had some difficulty with Gaab-Baay's quest for a farmer corpse. There were no farmers in the HMV, and because I was permanently invisible (thanks to the Darkforge pools), I couldn't lead one out of Terinyo and kill him in the wilderness. So I ended up killing a farmer _in_ Terinyo, which infuriated many of the villagers. I hastily picked up the corpse, left, finished Gaab-Baay's quests, and headed for the nearest neutral altar, where I got crowned with the Ring of Immunity. After retrieving all the Orbs, completing the Filk quest and getting the crumpled scroll, I headed back to Terinyo, wondering whether my crime there had caused a war between those who hated me and those who did not, and whether Khelavaster would have survived. He turned out to be alive and unharmed but hostile. I gave him the crumpled scroll anyway, and he summoned the Trident. However, he would not move off it, but stood on top of it casting spells at me. He resisted my attempt to teleport him away, and kicking him to get his attention did not help either. After a while he picked up and wielded _my_ Trident, so I had no choice but to kill him, without harming any of the other villagers who had joined the fight, lest I change alignment. Most of them seemed to be trying to kill me, but one lone goodwife came to my defence and went for Khelavaster - sadly he wiped her out in no time. I tried casting Death Ray at him but it didn't work, and he was impossible to hit in melee (the monster memory said he seemed to have a DV of 212). Luckily one casting of Burning Hands dealt with him without damaging my alignment too much. I headed for the Stone Circle, studied all the spellbooks I'd accumulated while waiting for Darknight, then entered. Keriax can no longer be Death Rayed, but it didn't take too long to kill him with dragon slaying ammo. Went back to the Old Barbarian's glade, collected everything from my stash, and zoomed down the Caverns of Chaos. I was a bit worried about my N- alignment, but one large sacrifice set it back to N=. Drank all my stat boosting potions, equipped the Crown and Medal of Chaos and entered the gate. Read some of my supply of SoCR - I had been very lucky with corruption this game, not getting any of the most hated ones until quite late, so I was able to keep a few in reserve to read when I got nasty corruptions during the battle with Andor Drakon.
