Master thief challenge rules:
It's allowed to:
- Use items stolen from monsters (pick pockets)
- Use items stolen from shops (with invisibility, thief level 18 ability or by
killing the shopkeeper)
- Use and pick up items that are given to you (quest rewards and crowning
gifts for example)
- Pick up food and elemental orbs but orbs must be never used
It's not allowed to:
- Buy anything (from shops, ratling traders, cloaked ratling, ...)
- Buy services (for example Garth and Yergius)
- Pick up any other items (items dropped by monsters and items initially
generated in dungeons (Includin artifacts - Ankh, Ancient mummy wrapping,
Elemental gauntlets, Ring of the high kings and Black torc for example))
- Use elemental orbs
Short story:
In the beginning I had to stay alive with 0 PV. I got my first PV on level 9
when I took Tough skin talent and on level 12 I took Iron skin and my god gave
me Nature's companion as a precrowning gift which was a great help.
Some time later (around levels 13 and 14 in D:6) I managed to get myself to L+
and I got crowned with Cloak of Oman and acid immunity. The Cloak of Oman were
quite annoying to use without teleport control but luckily I managed to steal
a ring of teleport control for some time later.
After getting the ring of teleport control I went to drink pools in Darkforge.
I got dooming, cursing, teleportation intrinsics, one water elemental, many
water snakes some resistances and teleportation control from those pools.
I haven't got any wishes during the game and I had to pass Khelavaster without
giving him an amulet of life saving.
I went to the ToEF when I was only on level 18 and without any regenerating
items but that healing corruption helped me a little bit but it weren't
enough to keep me alive. Over 5 prayers or potions of extra healing were used
there. Killing the Ancient Chaos Wyrm weren't very hard with speed of 260-300
but still some kind of confusion resistance would have been nice...
After ToEF I descended in the CoC and emptied the water temple. I also managed
to make one shopkeeper hostile by trying to steal one potion from his shop.
It was my first attempt to steal an item from a shop and base change was 88%
but sadly he noticed me. :/
Next I had to pass the eternal guardian without a ring of the high kings for
two reasons: I haven't found a climbing set from a shop and it is not allowed
to pick up that ring.
The cat lord was very kind and gave me a ring of the master cat. I can't
remember my level at this point but I think it was somewhere around 21.
I left the air temple for later but I didn't survive long enough to come back
there. :(
Earth temple was a quite nice source of experience and not very hard to kill
with adamantium dagger of penetration. Once I got fully surrounded by earth
elementals and stone grues and almost died there but wand of fireballs and
one prayer saved me. After leaving the temple I was on level 25.
There were a greater vault filled with undead in D:46 but it was far too
dangerous to try emptying it. Also I wouldn't have been allowed to pick up
the artifacts so I left it there almost untouched.
Next I went to clear D:48 to get some experience and to put the orbs in the
anomalies.
At level 28 I attempted to went in the blue dragon caves but it was a real
mistake. (Ancient) blue dragons weren't able to hurt me with lightning bolts
and only a few items were destroyed by them. The real problem was the mana
battery corruption since I didn't have any items to remove that corruption
and I was planned to use my wands to kill Srraxxarrakex. I wasn't able to
use my wands so I tried to kill him with my adamantium dagger of
penetration.
I managed to get him severely injured with aid of some potions of extra
healing and prayers. After several prayers the god refused to heal me and
I had to try to run away back to the previos level to heal myself. That plan
didn't work very well and finally those ancient blue dragons managed to slay
me and end my story. :(
