This was my second ultra ending and my first UNE. I love playing gnome wizards - quite frankly if you 
can get a wizard past the ToEF and through the Secret Library then there is nothing (other than 
insane bad luck or making a mistake) that can stop you from finishing the game. High level wizards 
are ridiculously powerful!

I wrote this a few weeks after completing the UNE  so I apologise if it is incoherent in parts (my 
memory is a little fuzzy!)

At the start of the game I headed off to Lawenilothehl to kill a beggar or mugger (was lucky enough 
to find a mugger and avoid the alignment drop associated with murdering an innocent beggar :-) 
While there I checked out Barnabas' shop and almost had a heart attack when I saw an AoLS for sale!!! 
Knowing that an ultra ending was already on the cards, I played the rest of the game very cautiously.

Early game I went for the puppy cave and Kranach to build up experience and pick up some spells to get 
me through the SMC (preferably invisibility and/or teleportation). More insane luck was to follow in 
the UD when I picked up an AoLS of my own - with another one still guaranteed at Barnabas!!!

After the UD I took a pretty straightforward route: HMV and then the Dwarven City and Thrundarr's 
quests. Thrundarr's first kill quest was a little annoying: a giant frog that REFUSED to materialise 
anywhere in the CoC. In the end I travelled around swampy areas in the wilderness until I came 
across a horde of them. Unfortunately I lost my AoLS in the process while taking on a hydra. *Shrug* At 
least I had the backup at Barnabas which I picked up shortly for approx. 10 000 gold. 

Middle game continued without too many surprises: a ring of invisibility made the BUGCAV a walk in 
the park and I feasted on enough corpses to take my Dex into the 90s. Then I built Will back up with 
morgia until I was able to do the Rift. The secret library presented no challenge. I think I 
used lightening ball to breeze through Darkforge. The ToEF wasn't too challenging either  
invisibility and frost bolt/ball made it pretty easy. At some point I also picked up the RotHK 
as well as the Phial of Caladrial for the Demented Ratling. I didn't bother with the Minotaur Maze (I 
never do - not worth it).

Middle to late game was all pretty easy: saved Khel, picked up the other orbs and progressed as far 
as being awarded the RotMC. Then ascended through Darkforge and started looking for a giant boar (I 
already had the potion of cure corruption from Guth'Alak for Keethrax's corpse as well as a scroll of 
danger and wand of monster creation that I had picked up as random treasure). I was extremely lucky to 
find a giant boar quite quickly and get a skull to boot! Then it was a simple matter of feeding the 
demented ratling, satisfying the Old Crone (BEFORE taking out Keriax), getting my alignment back to N= 
and getting crowned. Keriax fell easily to death ray and I feasted on his remains.

Sharad was easily satisfied - invisibility and death ray made the ancient blue dragon caves a breeze 
although I didn't pick up too much useful stuff (I didn't bother to scum!) Srraxxarrakex was 
taken care of with acid ball. Unfortunately, I still wasn't level 45 yet - and I wanted the TotRR 
before I tackled Nuurag-Vaarn. I could have hung around in the blue dragon caves, but I decided 
to whack Sharad instead. Death ray toasted him (it?) and I was rewarded with a very yummy corpse :-) 
I also had to whack Blup's mom. 

End game continued to plan: assassinated Filk and toasted the EM with acid ball (killed him so quickly 
I picked up 1 corruption in total while in the SC  - I used blessed scrolls of magic mapping from the 
BUGCAV and teleportation to make the trip ultra quick). By this stage I had about 14 blessed scrolls 
of chaos resistance (Khel, BUGCAV and the dwarven mystic) so I decided to kill the greater white unicorn 
and picked up 5 or 6 PoGA as my reward. After getting the TotRR I cleared out the quickling tree to 
boost my speed before making my final descent. 

Everything up till now had gone as smoothly as I could have hoped and I didn't expect Nuurag-Vaarn to 
prove too problematic. Unfortunately I made a HUGE blunder: while cockily racing toward him I forgot 
about equipment-destroying traps and proceeded to lose ALL of my blessed SoCRs as well as ALL my 
blessed potions of boost speed, boost strength, etc. Nuurag-Vaarn was no problem, but I was 
forced to use my only wish (RoDS) to get some much needed SoCRs. D50 was no problem - I just used 
acid ball to lure away the balors before teleporting into the gate with the medal and crown of 
chaos. Once on the chaos plane I was able to cut my corruption to about 80% with my wished for SoCRs 
and, heart in mouth, took on the big guy with the TotRR and tactics set to berserk. 

The showdown with Andor was as climatic as one could hope for: as I slowly whittled him down so my 
corruption continued to increase. Finally, with my corruption maxed out, I destroyed the ElDeR 
cHaOs GoD - literally a turn or two away from certain death by corruption!

priests alike. The common man looks up to you and you slowly start to be
revered as a minor power of Balance. After a few millennia have passed you
are raised to the position of a demi-god to guard Ancardia from the forces
of Chaos and Order forever.
