Nell was my second attempt at Lithium Man.  My earlier hurthling wizard normal
winner had had a ridiculously easy time of it in the late game, so I decided
 to go with proven success for this challenge.  I found herbs on about D:2
 and was lucky enough to save stomafillia, spenseweed, and moss of mareilon,
 which will get anyone off to a good start.  I got some morgia root from the
 big room.  I spent some time harvesting herbs to raise my stats (especially
 toughness -- my HP sucked) and gathering corpses to cook and sacrifice.
  All went well, and I got precrowned with The Far Slayer, which wasn't
 useful at the time (no quarrels), but came up big in the late game when
 I'd gathered lots of slaying quarrels.  I finished the dwarven quests and 
explored down to the portal.  The only thing of note was a huge find, a 
spellbook of Teleportation.  I'd farmed blink dogs earlier so had control, 
so that was a huge find.  Controlled teleport makes anyone a survivor. 
 It also let me teleport Thrundarr and pull the lever without incident. 
 I descended further.  I was running low on Fire Bolt, but it held out 
through the water temple.  The Snake from Beyond was unusually troublesome,
 but I wasn't in danger.  I descended to the wall of flames and found a 
lucky ring shop on the way, which had a ring of ice (surprise!), a ring
 of regeneration, a ring of invisibility, and some stuff that I wasn't
 interested in.  I returned to the surface for the ToEF.  My Frost Bolt
 was already down below 100 points, so I had to fall back on Lightning
 Bolt and Magic Missile for many of the enemies.  With top intrinsic
 resistance, a ring of fire resistance, and Rolf's Companion, the 
background heat didn't harm me.  Partway through I noticed that I was up
 to L+, so I tried praying, and sure enough, I was close enough for crowning.
  Shalla blessed me with fire immunity ^_^ and Brannalbin's Cloak of Defense.
  First time I'd got that -- pretty nice.  The Fire Temple was pretty hairy
 thanks to my limited offense (no ball spells yet).  I had to retreat a few 
times and heal up with spenseweed.  I eventually took out the ACW with dragon
 slaying quarrels.  I took out most of the monsters, then decided it was time
 to go.  I dove without incident.  I teleported the eternal guardian (is that
 the most graceful way to deal with him [barring the ring, of course]?).  The 
casino had two amulets of life saving (I'm not actually that keen on them -- 
in the late game, if my character's getting tromped badly enough to get
 killed,  then he's probably going to get killed again), a great [+16, +5]
 tower crystal  shield, and some nice spellbooks (notably Lightning Ball,
Ice Ball, and  Strength of Atlas).  I collected the ring of the master cat
 (Early on I'd saved cooked rat corpses to tame cats; later on I just
 teleported them out of harm's way).  I had some trouble with the bunnies;
 although I immediately teleported south to kill Bugs and the initial bunny,
another got generated  behind me as I was exploring the rest of the level and
I had to clear the entire bottom hall.  Well, I'm sure Shalla liked the 30
cooked bunnies.  I stomped the Air Temple without incident (melee everything
outside; Ice Ball, humanoid slayers, and construct slayers for the inside).
I found a lesser vault of black dragons, which I cleared with Magic Missile
(Diamond-shaped vault?  Aim carefully and bounce away....) and dragon slayers.
Nothing of note in there, but I did find a ring of djinni summoning just lying
around nearby.  I went for "willpower" so I'd be over 32 even after giving up
the Water Orb.  I cleared out the Earth Temple with ball spells and construct
slayers.  Then I found a lesser vault of red dragons.  The Water Orb and an
amulet of perserverance were boosting my willpower over 48, so it was
embarrassingly easy: Teleport into middle of chamber, cast Ice Ball twice,
pick up treasure, repeat for next chamber. *fierce grin*  I nearly fell out
of my chair after identifying the loot.  This vault more than made up for the
 last one: Protector, two pairs of seven league boots, Preserver, the ring of 
immunity, a wand of death, a potion of education, a PoCC, two spellbooks of 
Acid Ball, the black tome of Allsuckaphus (sigh), a spellbook of Death Ray,
 270K gold, and a crystal of knowledge (along with some other nice things 
and about 14000 stones of equipment I didn't want).  WAAAAI!  The PoE gave 
me Detect Item Status (shrug).  I decided to do the blue dragon caves before
 the endgame (I already had about 70 dragon-slaying missiles along with my ball 
spells and Death Ray) to build up my power a bit more.  One of the ancient
 dragons dropped Thunderstroke (the first time I'd seen one drop an artifact
 myself).  I took out Ssraxxarrakex with quarrels of dragon slaying.  I 
cleared out the Mana Temple without much difficulty.  Nuurag-Vaarn fell to
 humanoid slayers, managing only one hit with glowing balls (which I resisted).
  Phew.  I mopped up the rest with Acid Ball for no real reason and left for 
the endgame.  I got Whirlwind for my (nearly) useless uselessness gift. 
 On D:50, I dug around into the first lever room, teleported to and pulled 
the lever as soon as the balors stepped off, killed him with demon slayers, 
then repeated for the second lever.  It took a few tries to keep the gate 
shut, as balors would teleport onto the levers when I wasn't looking.  I 
opened the big room and flattened the army of Chaos with Acid Ball and assorted
 slayers.  I sifted through the remains for the nicest eternium items and left.
  I decided to go spend some more time in the dragon caves in hopes of removing
 my corruption.  Somewhere along the way I picked up the emerald dagger.
  It pays to pick up all unidentified dragon droppings. ^_^  I was about to 
enter the first ancient dragon level when an ordinary blue dropped a wand of
 wishing with 5 (!!!) charges.  Woohoo, problems solved!  Three wishes yielded 
7 SoCR, which removed all my corruption with one to spare.  I left without
 further ado, stopping in front of Thrundarr's house on the way to plant a
 memorial herb garden.
