The platinum girdle is mine :) https://sites.google.com/site/darrenjohngrey/stuff/adom-platinum.png I've been trying for a couple of years to do speedruns with drakish wizards with the caveat of attempting to get the platinum girdle whilst at it. To get the platinum girdle you must be crowned L+ when entering D50, have committed no chaotic acts, and not let *any* lawful creatures die (by your own hand or by others). The last is quite difficult, since a random dwarf or blink dog can die off-screen and you won't even notice till you get to D50. So my idea was to incorporate it into a speedrun - all the teleporting around reduces the chances of even generating a blink dog. My game plan was as follows: 1. Reroll drake wizards till I get one with a Teleport book and decent stats 2. Level up to 13 in bugville 3. Raid the DarkForge pools for an amulet wish and TCtrl 4. Teleport around the game, killing baddies whilst being nice and just, get crowned and saved Khelly at some point, and win the game Step 3 was the biggest challenge really - the whims of the RNG were frequently nasty. This time I got lucky though - teleport control, a wish for an AoLS and a few nice intrinsics, without any sickness, dooming or too many bloody snakes. Also got a decent WDSM and a handy knife of endurance (regen makes constant HP-casting much more manageable). After coming out of DarkForge I decided screw the focus on speedrunning in as few turns as possible - I just wanted to win. I stairhopped in the ID for a while for more spellbooks (esp Invisibility), farmed some morgia on D3, did some quests, Teleported down and saved Khelly, got the ring of the high kings and killed the ACW with acid ball. Crowned with casino gold (the cloak was handy since it meant I didn't have to keep casting invis every few minutes). Cleared Air and Earth with ease, ignored a greater undead vault, did the blue dragon caves for xp (used slow monster + invis to maximise the gains) and killed the AKW for the same reason. Was a bit worried about the Mana Temple since I was low on acid ball after the dragon caves, but happily Nuurgy died on my very last casting. Did a jump for joy when I was awarded the girdle on D50 (since there was no guarantee I'd satisfied the conditions). The speed and Wi bonuses were quite handy since I was slowed from the ice level and lacking the Water Orb's nice balls. The regen doubled with the knife of endurance in my missile slot was very useful too. I used ice ball mixed with invis + slow monster to reap monumentous amounts of xp from the balors, and cleared most of the chaos goons before yanking the levers and heading home happy. I should note that a few blink dogs were generated. The most worrying was in a mixed tension room in the Water Temple, but thankfully in spite of me not being able to teleport he never called any friends in my time on the level. Scariest moment by far was when I teleported into the middle of 24 emperor liches in a cavern level of the unreal caves. They instantly confused me, and it took several attempts before I could squeeze out a teleport. I wasn't wearing the AMW at the time, so I nearly had a heart attack when two of them fired death rays at me. Thankfully Alertness saved my life... Finished on 21724 turns (could have easily halved that if I was really trying) and scored 100,956,848 points, easily beating Alex's piety scumming speedrun, something I've wanted to achieve for a very longtime.
