No scumming in this game by means of pickpockets, gremlins, dragon
gold doubling, ring dipping, or piety abuse, and also no infinite
dungeon visit. I did rob the casino though.

Additional restrictions were: No praying, no saving, and had to close
the gate in under 30000 ! moves, else suicide.

I had a GREAT start on this one. I got lucky and found two stable
morgia/moss herb patterns, plus I started out with the invisibility
spell. That made the herb gathering quick and easy. I found a couple
of offensive spellbooks in the big room, and was doing great. Then
the ancient dwarf gave me a chaos rat as a quest monster. I actually 
finished the game, having never killed a single stinking chaos rat.
Looking at my kill list, I think I killed a 'chaos' EVERYTHING...
except a rat. Oh well, I found a fireproof blanket elsewhere, so at
least it didn't delay my tower visit. But doing the entire game 
without the tactics skill really hurt.

I got a fireproof blanket by pure luck at Griff's graveyard . The
bone golem nearly killed me though, due to the low level I was at 
when fighting him. I also got the teleport spellbook while there. 
The graveyard was good to me this game! (No digging though). I let
Khelly die to go ahead with the game, and get the water orb. I think
not saving Khellevaster, really killed my score. SOMETHING did. 
Considering that I beat the game in under 24000 game turns, I was 
kind of hoping for better. Maybe it was just not completing any of
the dwarf quests, that killed the score. Again, oh well.

The water temple was a piece of cake, even though I didn't have
the darkness spell yet. Invisibility worked nicely. Crossing the
water was a HP killer though, as I had no swimming skill, or frost 
bolt spell. I did find that spellbook though, right after the 
water temple. As soon as I got it, I went straight to the fire
tower, even though I was at a VERY low level at the time (17).
Invisibility plus frost bolt killed the elementals/demons/grues,
and lightning bolt killed the Ancient Chaos Wyrm. I used the 
demons as monster shields, so the Wyrm couldn't blast me too much.
He got loose at the end however, and almost helped me into the
afterlife. I had to just keep gulping down my potions of extra
healing like they were candy. Finaly got him, but it was close.

Then, my final dive. When robbing the casino, I was extremely
unlucky. No acid ball spellbook. No ball spellbooks at all... the 
entire game. At least the air temple was easy without them. I 
killed Yulgash without even knowing it, just bounced a few magic
missiles in there, and he croaked. The earth temple made up for 
it though. It was painful. No ball spells, plus a pitiful melee 
weapon, plus low (no!) strength, plus very low PV, PLUS at the 
time I was at exp. level 23. I gained a few levels while fighting
there though, and was able, at the end to melee a few. The first
ones though, I had to lightning bolt to death. It took forever, 
and I think really ruined this PC's chance to have a truly great

The Archmage nearly killed me. I had but one lonely potion of
confusion. No blindness/cursed invisibility potions. The PC was
at exp. level 25 at the time. I had to use the alchemy skill,
to mix up some extra healing potions (right in the middle of
battle!) to get him through. He barely made it. The Archmage
was confusing/blasting/draining me stupid! I really did regret
at this point, having skipped all the greater vaults along the
way. The extra exp. levels would have been worth the game turns.

D:50 wasn't hard or dangerous, due to teleport plus bolt spells.
The downside was, that due to lack of ball spells, (and also due to
the Archmage, draining my willpower like crazy!) it took forever.
Only upon reaching exp. level 50, did I finally get a ball spell,
through my class power. By then, all the balors and Fisty were 
already dead. I got to use lightning ball for clean-up work. BLAH!

So this run set a new record for me. 24000 turns is pushing it 
quite a bit! Most of the game, I was completely outclassed by 
the monsters, and especially the bosses. I made my way through,
just barely, and by using just about every trick I know, to even 
the odds. I'm not sure how many more game turns can be shaved 
off! I suppose, that if I had found the acid ball spell, I could
have saved a few thousand. But without it, I think that's about 
the best I can get.
