The tale of Scott the gray elven wizard....

He started the game exploring the smc, hoping to explore the level before my
level got too high (>6).  I ended up finding the stairs and leaving.  A
couple of steps out of there and I found a group of roving raiders.  I then
went to the village dungeon.  I like it there better than the dd and I
didn't have any spells to deal with the cats yet.  I got the boost to
healing and left.  I then cleared out the puppy cave, picked up the corpse
and gave it to the girl.  I didn't want to become too lawful so I picked up
the pick pockets skill and used it and stole from the store (one of my
starting spells was invisibility).  I went to the hmv and stole from there
until the shopkeeper saw me.

I rushed into the Caverns of Chaos and picked up a few thousand from the
arena and some stomafilla from the big room.  A few levels I found my first
artifact.  The si!  Were you expecting something better?  My first quest was
a ratling thief.  Not too bad, I thought so I slipped down to the dwarven
halls and found one and I also found a ghost room.  I wasn't worried because
I had my trusty magic spells.  Completed the next 3 quests and gave away the
gladius.  Before I wanted to fight the greater daemon, I had some important
stuff to do.

I left the CoC and went to the pyramid, graveyard, and showed blup his mommy
and did so without too much difficulty.  I entered darkforge next and an
altar was generated.  Unfortunately you can't sacrifice steel golems.  I was
running out of dragon slaying ammo and my bow got burned so I had to turn to
my spellbook and find some way of dealing with them.  First on the list -
acid ball.  This spell works *really* good at killing them - 3 castings and
they're dead.  I just waited for them to surround me so I could take out as
many of them as possible.  Drunk from the pools until I got a wish (also
picked teleport control!).   Wished for an amulet of life saving.  Got the
crown and took off for the tower of eternal flames.  When I got there, I
realized that I didn't have frost bolt.  Where is a good place to get magic?
Of course ... the library.

Got the ring of high kings first then went down the rift and smash  lost 3/4
of my potions, my spellbook of teleportation and some other stuff.  By the
time, I reached the library, I had some spellbooks back and I got all of the
spellbooks there.  I also remembered to wear the crown of science and take
off my other artifacts, bloated up on stomafilla and read away (death ray is
an awesome spell - works on almost everything including barney and karmic
beings).  I even read the spellbook of wish, twice.  I the completed the
ToEF and froze everything in there.  Is it uncommon to leave the ToEF on
levels 30-33?  Seems to happen to me every time.  I got a wish from a genie
and asked very politely for food preservation.

On the way to dwarftown, I got sidetracked by a new corruption.  1/10
weight.  I had the pair and dropped everything in the cave except for
preserver, seven league boots, girdle of giant strength, the gauntlets, and
the rings.  I ate everything (food preservation was 100 by the time I
reached there) and time must go extremely fast in there since over 150 days
passed when I was in there.  My speed was 230 when I left.  When I finally
got back to dwarftown, I kicked the crap out of the greater daemon.  Got the
presents from the dwarven mystic and Thundarr and took off again.  Graveyard
and water levels and the banshee.  I also picked up about 500k from the slot
machines on the casino level and the big man made me spend it, I bought a
girdle of giant strength (+15), some potions of water, some other potions
and found the artifact in there was the rune-covered club.  I greater-id'd
it and saw that it wasn't worth spending about 900k on so I left.  My 10th
alchemy recipe was awesome - potion of youth + potion of boost speed =
potion of gain attributes.  Recipe 8 was potion of invisibility + potion of
ultra healing = potion of youth, so I made a few special potions before I
left.  I got the ring of the master cat for the first time and it is
awesome.  I used all of a writing set and made 5 scrolls os chaos resistance
(using a blank scroll does not use it up).  The next level was a greater red
dragon vault.  Picked up the ring of immunity, the robes of resistance, the
gauntlets (forget the name) and cash.  Got crowned on the next level with
lightning immunity and the long bow. Feeling gypped, I went to find some
more artifacts.  Shortly after that, I got blups trident.  I picked up the
next two orbs and then came across another greater vault.  This time it was
a red dragon vault (again, but I wasn't complaining).  This one had far
slayer, wyrmlance, cash, and cash.  I continued to delve later coming across
the mana temple.  It was a bit tougher but still very easy since I could
blast away with magic, casting from my hit points, and then use heal to heal
my hit points.  I then went to the barney caves and found preserver and the
black tome.  I then surfaced and got the other half of the pair.  My first
kill was a kobold (ouch!)  I had to go to level 117 to find him.  I was
getting corrupted fast.  I was at M by the time I surfaced and quickly did
the unicorn quest.  I went to the scintillating cave and picked up the
crumpled scroll.  The emperor moloch is easy except for the fact he did 400
damage to me when he hit me.  I used acid bolt and burning hands.  Surfaced
and got the trident of the red rooster.  One last thing I had to do.  Kill
fisty and his cohorts.  Cast wish before I threw away the orbs. I asked for
SoCR (what else!).  It lowered my dexterity.  My present on level 49 was the
damn scorched spear.  I did the last level (killed every damn thing that
moved) and only got corrupted twice.  On the way out, I got victory speeches
from thundarr and everyone in terinyo, then left.

That is my story.
PS every wizard ability after level 18 never got used and is assumed to be a
waste of a skill.  How about the level 50 ability being a bonus to
mana/faster mana regeneration rate?
PPS I never found a dungeon store, morgia root or moss of marelion
