Well, Vaarnim starved to death after draining the Darkforge pools, thanks to several
bugs that occured during the process, which caused various items of his inventory
disappear, like food and gold. Because of this bug, i refuse to continue subjecting
myself to this unbalanced (in terms of gameplay, due to exadurated peity-loss)
bug-infested gamma version, and will go back to playing gamma 12, which is the latest
most stable version ive known. Its not the first time ive vowed this after falling
short because of a bug in gamma 14, but this was the last straw. I can sacrifice
experiencing the new features until they have been implemented properly in the next
stable version to come.
Vaarnim had found a pair of blessed seven league boots in the SMC on day 2, which was
very nice, since because of them, he still had time to kill Kranach and find the puppy
alive! Unfortunately, on the journey outwards, the brave puppy jumped into a hostile
fray, and was thus lost to a horde of jackals summoned by a jackalwere in the wide-caverns
one level above. Later, Vaarnim also found Skullcrusher in a kobold vault in the early CoC.
The boots lasted him until half the pools of Darkforge were drained, at which point a steel
golem burned them.
Unfortunately, the pyramid was forgotten until it was too late (XP level 17).
Wyrmlance, a new artifact for gamma 14, was found in the Darkforge weapons storage, and
after examining it with a blessed scroll of greater identification, was deemed a bitter
disappointment (pole-arms being my favorite weapons).
