I've "banned" him (and changed my PW :P). I'm gonna have to improve the security around the "auto loggin" feature a bit and to a couple of other minor tweaks it seems... Sorry for not being so active these days. I'll try to at least lurk around a bit more often and look out for spammer and troll... I do come on here every day or couple of days... I'm a moderator on another forum, so I have a bit of experience... so yeah, if you need moderators, Jan, I can probably help out. If you still need moderators, I'm willing to help too, and I check these forums every day except when I'm on holiday. Will you need to email us instructions on how to moderate, or is it all obvious (i.e. when moderators log in do they automatically get the options to edit all posts, close threads and so forth)? |

Ok, I'll just slap on mod rights for the two of you then (Iridia & Ekaterin). Should be more than enough :P It SHOULD be pretty intuitive (you simply get the delete and edit button on all posts), you won't have as many options as you might be used to from a "proffesional" forum, you can't move threads for example (not yet anyway). Just close, delete or make them "sticky" (options at the bottom of the thread page)... Guess I should make some kind of user admin page one of these days too *dive into the SQL manager* Unless people are beeng very rude or insulting (or just plain anoying) there is usualy no need to delete stuff. I usualy don't care about "bad words", unless it's part of a rude or insulting post, but if people get to carried away you can always warn them or edit the worst parts away... Basicaly use common sence. P.S. You might have to "forget login info" and re-loggin for the mod powers to kick in, forget how that works... Jan Erik Mydland HoF admin |

Seems to have a "hacker" of sorts on our hands here... I'm gonna have to dig up the server logs and see just how the heck someone got access to my forum acount... Untill then: I have noticed that we have one user who share IP with both our friend Bradley AND the "unauthorized" posts made by my acount. Looking closer I find other simmilarities as well. Looks like someome here is leading a double life. Not gonna metion any names just yet, but I'm 90% sure I know who the culprit is. So far no dammge seems to have been done (other than the anoyance), so if the person responsible will contact me and explain how he got access to my acount so I can plug the hole (if there is any) I'm willing to let the matter drop (if he promise to behave)... However once I'm done going though the logs and comparing the IP's and the access times I will send that data to the abuse department of the users ISP. They can easily match the times of the requests with theyr own user logs and track down the user in question and terminate his/her acount. Unless you contact me first. "Running away" will not protect you. So whoever you are (and I already have one suspect) I would recomend you get in touch with me (preferably over e-mail)ASAP before I take the matter further and you risk loosing your ISP acount over this little "prank". D'oh... Turns out my acount was not compromised after all, some smart-ass just figured out a way to make a new acount using some special characters that looked identical to mine. The fake acount have been locked out and I will add some checks to prevent simmilar abuses tomorow... I'm warning you guys though Bradley, my imposter and a couple of other anoyances have all come from the same IP. And I don't care how "constructive" your alter-ego is when you are not in trolling mode. One more step out of line and I'm bannig your IP. Consider this a final warning. You know who you are...
