Just thought I'd post the basic rules for Role-Play threads. For the most part they're flexible, and you can add/subtract from them, but these are the rules i've learned and seen in several places. "OOC": Out Of Character. Put this before anything that is *not* part of the story. "IC": In Character. Put this in when you return to the story. These last two are pretty rigid, they can't be changed. Story Killing: Not really a rule, but more like a very good suggestion. Don't be making posts that make the tale drop dead in it's tracks (i.e. "Suddenly, the group is surrounded by a huge warparty of Molochs! A strange mage in the rear of the army utters an incantation, and suddenly the heros' minds go blank."). There's ways to make the story mroe interesting w/o making it stop (i.e. "Suddenly, the group is surrounded by a huge warparty of Molochs! After a long and furious fight [prob want more description than this] the heros are taken prisioner by the Molochs." from here the story can go in many directions: how do they escape? do they even escape, or do they join the molochs?). If you have any other suggestions for Role-Play thread "rules" go ahead & post 'em here, so that we have all this stuff focused into one place. but obey the rules set by jan: don't chatter. ivan.sourceforge.net |

A suggestion for the roleplay boards... Delete any posts that doesn't have to do with the story, after you're done discussing things. The story tends to get lost in [OC] posts. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

I agree, but we'd need someone with moderator status to go through and delete them. We don't want to make Jan have to deal with all the other forums, the HoF, and hunt down old OOC posts... ivan.sourceforge.net |

that's kinda what i was getting at. *g* who do you think that "someone" should be? i'd volunteer, but i don't get a lot of online time and will be getting even less (i have a scene for a variety show that i have to be working on before and after school, as well as homework while i'm home). but depending on how much it takes... ivan.sourceforge.net |
