Hi all. Here is a quick tip. Have 2 phase daggers, and a wand of wishing. Wish for a ancient karmic wyrm. As soon as it hits *critically wounded* slow yourself. You get like 4 million EXP. I went from level 22-50 in about half an hour. (Make sure your PC is alone. It also helps to be a *walking tank*

I have (a better) one that I usually use at endgame (lev 40->) : usually I can find at least one glowing wand (WoW) or RoDS at Lich graves, those that state "Great treasures are buried here". Can be found on both graveyards. Go to empty plains and wish for emperor moloch. He sends like 30-40 greater molochs and w/ penetrating weapons & little speed are easily defeated. U can use the slow-trick described earlier, of cooz, to get even more exp (dangerous!). They ever get more powerful when u gain levels (very easily, so to say!) and give those last 10 levels to top 50 quite easily. And also gretaer moloch corpses! yum yum... :-P Any more tricks? Except those easy shopkeepers =) Icesus |

Or use high-level magic missile if you have it. One can easily kill a greater moloch with around 10 shots of high level magic missile, I can tell from experience. If you can get those 30-40 GM's in a line and get some distance between you and them... Sytytä toiselle tuli ja hän pysyy lämpimänä jonkin aikaa. The moloch trick is better used in the Big Room. That way, you can use a wand of door creation so you won't be surrounded, and still get the max number of molochs... Die Gedanken sind Frei |

Are you sure that'd work? I wouldn't know but I'd guess greater molochs are powerful enough to smash down doors :) If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Hmm, you're right :) I just used that method to contain the Banshee in the Animated Forest once, and thought it might work here. But if they can smash altars, they could probably smash doors too. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

It's a lot easier if you are standing right next to an alter (For ancient Karmic Wyrms, that is) and have a lot of GP. ;) |

umm... I've got a problem actually with gaining exp now that I've done all the dwarwn elder quests and got the elemental orb of fire... I'd need some place where there would lots of powerful monsters and stuff so that I'd get lots of expirience. I'm playing now a 22 level barbarian with 70 DV and 40 PV =P Could anyone suggest a place where I should go? |

Darkforge... Rift... Is the Minotaur Maze open? I forget... hmm... digging up the various graveyards... Done the water temple yet? That should give a fair amount of XP... Dwarven Halls, if you're feeling suicidal and have petrification/death ray protection. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

I don't think I'll try the rift just yet =) but how do I find darforge? And isn't it a quite corrupting place? I was thinking of going to the water temple soon too... but if I'm not trying a ultra ending, I don't need to save khels life, right? And I've emptied the dwarven halls plenty of times... I just encountered a ogre emperor =) nothing worse... |

You can win without saving Khel, but it's harder, because you'll miss out on his six blessed scrolls of chaos resistance. Darkforge is in plain sight on the wilderness map - it's described as "a long and non-descript tunnel". The first level in this dungeon is quite normal, except for one steel golem guarding the down staircase. See whether you can kill it with reasonable ease. If not, leave and come back later. If you can manage that first steel golem, go down into Darkforge proper, where you'll find tons of steel golems which will give you tons of XP. There are also several pools in there, and you might get a wish from them. I wouldn't worry about the corruption - just don't spend ages in there smithing or reading spellbooks. The Tower of Eternal Flames is a good place to gain XP because it's full of tough monsters, but make sure you're properly equipped. Killing Blup's mum gives you loads of XP. She is very powerful indeed, but she cannot fight back in the dark. Before you try this dangerous (and chaotic) act, read all my advice below. If you ignore it, don't blame me if she kills you. 1. Have some means of water breathing. Rings of the fish won't do; they protect you from drowning, but don't help against the powerful water breaths of Blup's mum and other water creatures. You will also need the spell of darkness or several scrolls/crystals. 2. Explore the water cave, but go into Coward mode before picking up anything. 3. When the water dragon appears, darken the area. Then go berserk and start whacking her. If she dies, great, you have loads more XP and all her treasure. 4. Sometimes she will run away from you. In that case, don't try to hunt her down. You can't find her in the dark, and she's much too powerful to kill in the light. Just go on sorting through her treasure, taking whatever you want. She may recover from her fear. If she does, then you have another chance to darken the area and attack. |

Okay... the darkforge was easy, my barb was pretty quick after walkin around the bug place for an hour ^_^ and PV was about 90 so I didn't have any problems with the steel golems.. should I kill the guy who gives the quests in the darkforge? Or is he that tough? I think I'll try getting the equipment for killing blups mom... if I find what I need, I'll give it a shot =) so.. err... if I got like... a helm of water breathing and a blessed waterproof blanket and a blessed ring of fire (?), is that enough? ps. I already chatted with khel =/ damn. *stupid* |

kill the shopkepper at the casino! I passed like 5 high levels (42-47). You also get all of his shit. including an artifact or two. My favourite piece of graffitti I ever was on a bathroom stall: "People who write here are FAAGS!" |

Sami, what do you need a ring of fire for? All it does is protect your stuff from ice attacks. You don't need a ring of the fish either if you have a helm of water breathing. Yes, a waterproof blanket will keep your pack completely safe in the water cave, but you'll need to rustproof any equipped iron items. A few more handy tips about Blup's mum:
Do you already know where else to get SoCR now that you've let Khel die? |

Also, it helps if you slow yourself right before you kill her. Use a blessed stehascope to see when she is very low, take out the phase daggers, slow youself and kill her. Slowing yourself increases the difficulty, and makes you get about twice as much EXP. |

Isn't she also completely useless in the dark? So unless that has been fixed now you can just cast darknes and pummel her to death with no danger... It's almost like cheating. Also if you play a older than V1 game you can use death ray or a wand of death to dispose of the Ancient Karmic Whyrm(s) you wish for safely too (think it was made imune as of 1.0.0 or someting). Lolllll. Same exact time eh? On Topic. Darkness helps *a lot* when fighting her. Make sure those phase daggers are rustproof and blessed and *hopefully* better than 0,1d4. (I use my 15,1d4+9 daggers). |

Jan, as I said above, sometimes she'll run away when you're trying to pummel her to death in the dark (she can even teleport). If you can't find her, you'll have a hard time killing her :-) Jonesy, have you actually killed her while slowed? Since she regenerates, I'd be worried that she'd heal faster than you could hurt her. You could Death Ray the ancient karmic wyrm in version 1.0.0, but it doesn't work any more in version 1.1.1. |

Yes, but I had drunk about 5 potions of speed, then slowed myself. So it kinda negated it. :). I still had about 500 speed. You can do that, and the game still gives you the same amount points.(Not sure, but thats what it seemed to me.) |

*Back* All right, I got one SoCR from the high mountain village, but it got burned in the tower of eternal flames... so, shit happens, as we can see. Anyway, I hadn't found any scrolls of uncursing, since it's cursed, so it wouldn't have been any use for a while... but now I'm getting a bit nervous with this guy cos' he's got like.. four (?) corruptions... and I just don't like the fact that they mess up my stats. Eternium and adamantium stuff dont rust, right? And the RoTHK and ring of elemental mastery doesn't rust, right? *Hoping* Argh! I don't have the patience to ask all the stuff, I'll just e mail someone my charecters... that.. thing, what ever it is, that shows the whole charecter and so on.. so that he-/she'd tell me what I need to rustproof (and how..) if someone would be that considerate? And I ain't got a chance against the casino shopkeeper, propably... since I had to try four times to kill the ancient karmic wyrm... or whatever that's in the fire element temple.. thingy.. *confused?* ps. You guys don't need to tell me my English is bad =) |

And why!? Why can't there be a phase axe or something like that =) my profiency in axes is 14 and in daggers zero... damn.. well, all I need is a wish and time =) [Wish = Phase dagger, time = profiency] |
|||||
Jonesy Unregistered user |
Actually, you can wish for "better marks", and it gives you EXP in weapons. Rings of elemental mastery rust. I can rustproof them for ya. :).What else you need? :) |

You got the SoCR from the HMV, so you must have controlled teleportation. Have you been inside the secret room in Dwarftown? If you're neutrally aligned, and you talk to the mystic in there, he might give you four blessed SoCR. (Sometimes he gives you useless stuff, though.) Only iron items can rust - mithril, adamantium and eternium are all rustproof. If you have a waterproof blanket, all you need be concerned about is your weapon (rusty weapons can break). You rustproof things by dipping them in blessed oil of rust removal. |

I got the artifact axe, the umm.. rolfs something from the dwarven mystic... too bad, the SoCR would have been a bit more use to me =). And if I get.. er.. loads of oils of rust removal (sounds stupid, yeah =)), how do I bless them? And how do I get the phase dagger better than 1d4? Do they rust? Jonesy, gimme your e mail adress, I'll show you what I need to have rustproofed =) |

There are no "phase axes" "phase blades" etc. because daggers are the least damaging weapons in the game (exept for whips). In the normal game it was the only way to bypass PV. Now you can find weapons with suffixes. Ones "of penetration" do the same as phase daggers - and you can easly find battle axes of penetration if you kill lots of gnolls. Yes, every iron item rust. Every non-iron doesn't (mithril, adamantium, eterinium and crystal. Some amulets and rings can be made out of gold - that doesn't rust too). To bless things - drop potions of water on an co-aligned altar. Your god will make them "holy water" if he is "very pleased with you" (not much effort, just sacrifice 4-6 creatures or 2000-4000 gold or 10-15 Si). Then dip (!) the items you want to bless in holy water. They will be blessed from now on. How to get them better than 1d4? Smithing. Find an anvil, a forge, iron ignots, a hammer and a phase dagger. Get smithing to 100. Start smithing the dagger with the use of the ignots and watch it get better and better. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. I knew that, but how do I bless potions? Don't they just mix if I try to bless an oil of rust removal with holy water? |

Maelstrom Registered user The Knight of the Black Rose Last page view: 3327 days, 23 hours, 57 minutes and 41 seconds ago. |
Read carefully - Dip them into holy water. That's how you bless *ANYTHING* (not incuding a few artefacts like the Moon sickle). Press !, select the potion you want to bless, select holy water and there you have it. Easy enough I think. A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |
