I was just wondering...

Is it possible to have more than ONE altar in a level? If so,what would happen if I press 'O' while infront of TWO altars; both have different alignments, and both have a monster on them.

I was just asking a logical question.

Finding an altar is a pain in the neck, and because ADOM hates me,I usually NEVER seem to find them. Are there any other places where altars are guarenteed(besides dwarftown)?Or at least easier to be found?

PS. We ask newbie questions in these forums because that is all there is to ask.Without them, how will the forums strive?

lol, Chris talking about noobish questions when he posts cheats for an old version of ADOM.

I dont know Anarchy, good question the thing about two altars. Maybe a 'cheater' can create a level and try it out?

No, you can have just one altar on each level. ADOM would propably crash if you'd create two somehow.

Guaranteed altars are in Dwarftown, and in each of the elemental temples (always chaotic altars, and you need to be a champion to convert them).

Oh yeah, noob questions all right. Like YOU don't do that? "Can you curse items?", oh come on...

With all this sh!t you post here, next thing you know you'll come posting: "sry wasn't me my little brother logged in as me and posted all this stuff".
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

I salute you,J.

Anyway, are chaotic monsters the only one capable of sacrificing the PC?Could neutral/lawful monsters do so too?

This question is to mock all who oppose me.

i have been sacrificed at a neutral altar before by a neutral being. I was completely shocked, as being sacced at chaotic altars so many times led me to believe that they were the only dangerous ones. But yes, you can be sacced at a neutral altar if you are chaotic or lawful

Really?I've never been sacced by a lawful or neutral monster before...

Maybe that's because most of my characters are lawful or neutral. And not many neutral monsters are capable of sacrificng(worms, rats, bats, etc).

I'll test it out with a old version of the map editor. It's only for.... G16p2 or 1.0.0, I think. I'll test it anyways.

Yes, you can definitely be sacced by a lawful or neutral monster. I was once sacrificed by a dwarf (lawful) when I made Dwarftown mad.

You are more likely to find an altar (or anything else, for that matter--herbs, forges, pools, etc) in the UD, under the SmC.

Do only sacrifice you on a co-aligned altar or do they care? Eg an orc won't sacrifice you if you're standing on a neutral/lawful altar?

IIRC I once had two altars on a level. Could misremember it, though. Anyway I don't think it is possible to have two altars close by...

I don't think chaotic monsters could sac you if you're standing on a neutral/lawful altar. They only have one deity, anyway.

Could monsters sacrifice OTHER monsters besides the PC?

No, I don't think monsters can sac each other.

They'll only sac you if you are:

A. Not of their alignment
B. Standing on an altar of their alignment

and if:
A. They can see you
B. They are able to speak (i.e., a rat can't sac you because it's an animal). The biggest group you have to worry about is humanoids, though demons and undead can sac you too.

Hold on. I know I am late to this discussion, but.

1) In my limitless and omniscient experience, the kind of person who actually uses noob as an "insult" and not as a joke is probably the kind of individual who isn't strong enough to be a bully, so resorts to being snide instead.

2) Iridia was sacrificed by a DWARF?? I'm trying to contain my imagination, even as we speak.

Can a chaotic monster sacrifice a more powerful chaotic player on a chaotic altar? Wouldn't they get the infamous 'Sacrifice yourself' message?

Probably, if you cheated to get two altars, and sacrificed a monster on each, all that would happen was it would count as two seperate sacrifices, one after the other, where the first influences the next, and the order is chosen purely on x and y location -_-

But its amusing to think that maybe the dungeon would be torn apart by two dueling deities suddenly fighting over who gets an altar on that level. And probably killing the pc in the process.

What was your question again?

Andor is on the chaos plane with no altars, and no, when you go there there's no return so you can't lure him out but you could cheat yourself an ElDeR cHaOs GoD figurine of wondrous power, and thus summon one as a pet and then try sacrificing it.

You know what would be funny? Turning Andy to stone with the Petrification spell than carrying him around as a souvineir.

Nope, I tried to turn him to stone. Doesn't seem to work. He resists. "Slow" spell works just fine.
And you can confuse him using "Ventriloquism" ( yeah, no kidding ). It's sometimes useful ( especially if you took several blessed scrolls of chaos resistance with you ( once I managed to save 8 )). Is this really possible to cheat the figurine of ECG? Wow. How do you do that?

Hex editing, memory editing, using the new feature for item cheating in ADOMBot. All 3 work for the newest version.

Chris, he ment a "figurine of wonderous power", not a "statue". Statues cannot be turned into companions, figurines, when blessed and used, can.

I meant turning him into stone and carrying him around as a souveneir(like what Majin Buu out of Dragon Ball Z does except he turns them into candy and eats them)not a figurine of wonderous power becuase if you can beat him what good is he to you anyway?
