To encourage more adom playing i devised an ADOM Scavanger Hunt. (I thought i'd just give it a trial version - see if there's interest and i'll expand it if there is)

However details are - www.alphalink.com.au/~stones/scavhunt.txt

---

The Leader is - Ekaterin (47 points)
And Coming in Second is - Kurupt (23 points)
Third Place Goes To - Duke Ravange (1 point)

Others - Unclaimed (? points)...

Just a request for clarification of the rules: must the game have been played after you made this post? I may still have the flag of a character who died of old age a _long_ time ago (at the time, she was my best character ever) - would that be a valid entry, or would it be necessary to kill a new character that way?

Nah the idea is for everyone to start new charactors... everyone is equal apart from their adom knowledge (:

So no old chars...

PS: creating statues isn't that easy though.
PS2: having malaki as first kill is practially impossible, and won't show up properly in the flag either.

Hmm... what about x points for killing the crime lord and no one else? it's fairly easy though, with a spellcaster.

here's some ideas... some are nearly impossible but here goes...

A character with at least one of every ego prefix/suffix (separate categories for missiles, melee weapons and armor)

A character with three killer-bug companions

A character with all of the statues from the Bug Temple in inventory

A character with all stats at the same number

A character with as many artifacts as his level

A character with "Overburdened Bleeding! Blessed Starving Poisoned Sick" in the status line (for all possible states... you could add stunned and confused too)

A level one character with over 10K GP

Collections: Every possible item in a group...
Waterproof/fireproof/plain blankets
Iron/Mithril/Adamantium/Eternium ingots
One of every shape of key
Et cetera...

Some of those are good iridia... however i don't like your first two 'cos the first one takes too much scumming, and would be rather boring. The second one would be unprovable (is that dictionalized?) by the flag.

Eternium man and the likes are already challanges - they'd be so highly weighted that it would make it impossible for anyone else to win.

I can survive 1 million turns easily... But, the thing is that if you can survive 1 million turns at CoC or Infinite? Err... Well, it's theoretically possible but... well, too damn hard 'cause of the corruption. Would be easy without the corruption tho, just lock a door when you're at lvl 2 or something so there won't come any giants or dragons etc. who can break the door.

Crimson 1 milions turn after close the gates of chaos is easly... Try make it before closing:) You will be safe only in wildernes.... In Dwarven city background corruption effect are noticed... And second dangerous... In ADOM for high experienced PC monsters are easy to kill (ofcourse player must be carefull and smart in game) but in milion turns you kill lots of mosnter.... Try breed a extremaly experience hmmm Anicent blue dragon;) Level above 100... And do not blobbing in this time;)

sorry can't be bothered logging in

If you just go up and down the stairs in the id below level 10 without killing anything it should be easily done. Food wouldn't really be a problem.

Another idea is if one picks a mountain of stomafillia herbs one could just enter a wilderness square and wait - that'd take less real time.

how about these:
2000 pts: a "winner" FLG with nothing on the kill list (this would be a very hard one)
1000 pts: a "winner" FLG with less than 1000 XPs
500 pts: a "winner" FLG with 1000-5000 XPs
100 pts: an FLG at D:40 or lower and less than 1000 XPs
100 pts: an FLG with no kills but the char at lv 50 (you'd need a *lot* of patience)
90 pts: an FLG with no kills but the char at lv 40-49 (this would take some time)
80 pts: an FLG with no kills but the char at lv 30-39 (this could take some time)
70 pts: an FLG with no kills but the char at lv 20-29
60 pts: an FLG with no kills but the char at lv 15-19
50 pts: an FLG with no kills byt the char at lv 5-14
50 pts: an FLG at D:40 or lower and 1000-5000 XPs
40 pts: an FLG with nothing on the kill list, but the char higher than lv 5
10 pts: an FLG with precisely 37 XPs, no more no less

The "no kills" challenges mean "nothing on the kill list" here, right? So you wouldn't be allowed to sacrifice live creatures, unlike in the pacifist challenge? When you get the xp for a fireball trap going off, do the dead monsters show up in the kill list or not?

Incidentally, why has no-one entered the scavenger hunt yet? Is everyone in a craze for Nethack 3.4.0 like me?

Oh, and how about a character with the longest possible list of "achievements during his/her adventures"? I was going to suggest one with all possible achievements, but "true and pure paragon of Order" is almost certainly incompatible with "member of the thieves' guild".

Wohoo Duke Ravange got the first point (:

Getting scores without making kills is almost impossible... how on the earth would you plan on doing that ? You'd not only starve to death but get trapped between monsters between corridoors. How on earth would one get past the battle bunnies ?

I also don't like the huge point gainers... they'll just cause a winner that noone else will use (:

anyway i like ur last one - however i wouldn't put it as 37 incase someone's trying it before i put it up (:

however keep up the good work - i'll add ta it if there's any more interest (:

yea, "no kills" equals "nothing on the kill list". therefore it would be possible to sac monsters until you get a level.
and dougy, ur right, but it *is* possible. a bard would be good, or a mindcrafter with pickpocket (bard=pet kills them all (you'd need at least 2), mindcrafter=confuse, pickpocket, run away).

Duke, a necromancer would be good too (have your slaves kill everything for you). Did you read the "challenge mini xpxp" thread in the Spoilers forum a while back? We talked about whether it was possible to win without killing anything / with 0 xp. Iridia actually tried the challenge and got through the puppy quest without killing anything herself.

problem with necros would be that you have to kill something to get a corpse to animate.

I've seen kobold corpses in Munxip's shop. Are they humanoid enough to animate? The other way to get started would be to let one inhabitant of Lawenilothehl kill another (e.g. if someone's chasing you, lead them past the cloaked ratling, who will defend you).

Once you've got your first slave, just have it kill everything, and you'll get more corpses for more slaves.

perhaps a drakeling necro would be handy - with music skill aswell. Necromancer slaves increase in power with the PC - if the PC is low level so will the slave. If your slave got killed somewhere it would probably destroy the game.

And one would have a hell of a time trying to clear the fire temple.
