Leave some to wish for speed in difficult moments (balors, maybe Nuurag, maybe great blue wyrm or Andy if going for ultra). It helps A LOT. |

I know. I left only one speed wish for Andy, because I already had 7 PoBSs. I actually wished a cute puppy and used two wishes for beauty (got +12 I think) just for fun of it ;) |

I'm torn between whether this is lucky or unlucky. My lawful high elven thief was going for a second precrowning on PC:6 at level 12. I had just achieved "extremely close" (it does happen a second time). My standard tactic upon getting this message is to make three more live sacrifices (when using live sacrifices as I was in this case). Just for luck. I was pickpocketing before sacrificing where I could. "You pickpocket a sapphire amulet" One of my favourite artifacts, but unbelievably bad timing. Of course had it been a rune-covered sling I pickpocketed, I would have quit immeadiately. |

Well , I think my luckiest moment was when my first kill monster dropped pair of 7LB.Then once I found something like 3 PoGAs in row. I have never succeeded finding a WoWi,that,I think, is kinda sad :/ Oh well, maybe I'll find one someday. One hundred warriors of Lucifer, they brought the fire with them And they made storm of fire, that blew over paradise And behold, one hundred and six, monsters from the inferno They brought the nuclear destruction, that devastated The Holy Realm Barathrum - Last day in Heaven |

For some reason (some astral alignment or terrible curse I carry since cradle) I *never* had gotten a RoDS in almost five years of gaming. That's very weird since outstanding things had happened to me. 1* Lijo, My L8 potion-specialized gnomish merchant headed Dwarftown after having a pretty bad time achieving healing and *tryng* to rescue the puppy. Before going on, I equip DIS'ed and appraised items and manage a safe way to the entrance. Some levels down I'm unlucky enought to find a kobold shaman tension room after some harsh fights and tried to run away as far as I could, getting blasted on my try. "You Die..." and Taran! the "uncursed silver amulet" ended up being an AoLS! could run away and even found another one for Kelly. Now Lijo is on L21, Champion of balance and nicely equipped, the most I ever achieved with a merchant. 2* A friend of mine told me that he *started* (?!)the game with a WoWi (0 charge) by playing a drakeling merchant. I'm in the dilemma of believing in him (I do trust him) and nbelieving such a thing can ever happen! Stay tuned. |

Having just completed the game for the first time with a hurthling monk, I've gone on to my next character I wanted to try out - a gnomish farmer. First try I get good stats. After retrieving the blanket, but not finding the down stairway in the SMC I went into the outlaw village. Generated in the shop: 1 Potion of Cure Corruption 1 Pair of Seven League Boots 1 Amulet of Life Saving I really hope the raider lord's gang doesn't kill me. |

Hmm, good reason to robe the shop :-) |

"My best moment I can remember was getting three wishes in a row by drinking from a pool. I was just about to save (come on, who wouldn't save-scum after *this*?), but I drank another time, got drowned and surrounded with vipers who proceeded to beat the snot out of me before I could even think about putting one one of my AoLS. So I lost that one. Ah well... " I wouldn't save scum after *anything* happening. :) |

Same game as the above. Pickpocketed the silver key in the graveyard from a gremlin. (I love the silver key - usually I train disarm traps and pick locks obsessively. This almost negates the nees for them both.) Great crowning gifts: Cloak of Oman, Wyrmlance and Shirt of the Saints. PoEx gave me 4 RoDS. Greater Undead Vault two levels BEFORE the Eternal Guardian. Greater Fire Vault the level after the Eternal Guardian. That is: 2 greater vaults before the casino. Wasn't planning on taking out either of them until I contemplated the prospect of descending beyond the casino with the farmer level 50 ability (30% reduced corruption). Doored off the north and south side of the Fire vault so that I could wipe everything out on the western side and then open the secret door into the Wyrm chamber, which took about 40 wand of cold charges to clear (producing a 3 charge WoWi). Only got as far as level 47 so I went up to the undead vault to see what I could get from it. Shortly after starting into it I recieved the RC trident. Took me a long time to realise that it was an undead slayer and once I found out I was able to melee everything but the emperor lich thanks to invisiblity (because I amn't that reckless but he fell in abour 4 shots). The last lich king left (and the last enemy left) gave me level 50. Sun's Messenger was generated in the vault. Level after the Air Temple produced a mimic tension room. Having just worn away my 't' button on a horde of shadow wyrms I thought to myself "I've never seen greater mimics (or above) paralyse. They probably don't". |

My luckiest moment would have to be with my first and only winning character. I was on D:50, and rather than doing a wand of destruction ending, or something like that, I decided to clear the entire level before handling the levers, if for no other reason than pride. Anyways, I was fighting Fistanarius (or however you spell it) and he attacked me one time, and reduced me to 1HP. I literally stared at the screen shocked, I couldn't believe how close I came to falling at the last hurdle. If I had but a single hit point less when he attacked me, I would never have won that game. [Edited 1 time, last edit on 3/12/2005 at 17:15 (GMT -5) by BLauritson] |

Yuo probably had Luck and Fate Smiles intrinsics (that sometimes causes the HP to drop to 1, but not kill you), otherwise you'd probably died "I don't know what World War 3 will be fought with, but I know World War 4 with be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein [Edited 1 time, last edit on 3/13/2005 at 05:07 (GMT -5) by Morio] |

My weaponsmith got crowned with Bracers of War. Soon after I got a postcrowning and received the Preserver. The same guy found a RoDS lying around in TotHK and right after saving Khelavaster he found a wand of wishing with 5 charges lying around the floor. Didn't even use all of the wishes. The game is extremely easy if you get both BoW and Preserver. |

My current lvl 31 Dwarf Priest has found two WoWi with (0) and (3) charges. I intend to save one for Andy...any advice on what skills, if any, are worth wishing for? Food Preservation? Alchemy? Find Weakness? My plan is to do an ultimate Avatar of Balance ending, and I have no weapon or equipment requirements right now. Thanks. |

Ok, I'm just doing an extreme with a gnomish wizard (Sword sign). I got heir with 3 starting talents and was going to play around in bugville so I just walked there. I killed 38 greater claw bugs and 4 killer bugs with my wand, raised 13 levels and left the place. Ok, that's nothing special, but the char has been extremely lucky after that: I decided to descend fast to dwarftown, so I just used ladders when I saw them and didn't really kill anyone. I killed one zombie though and picked up one amulet. Well, king wanted me to slay a huge bat and that was almost in the next room, so he identifies my stuff, and that one amulet happened to be AoLS. Also, Waldenbrook has some nice nice stuff for sale - book of teleportation, magic map, staff of smiting (with good stats), cloak of invisiblity (!!), light crossbow of accurancy, etc. Those were relatively cheap, because I was gnome. I had also found 2 rings along the way (plus a ring shop in CoC 9, so I can scum for RoDS I guess). Had found ring of teleport control so I just flied to Khelavaster and saved me. The chaos serveants almost killed me, but gave AoLS to Khelly and drank the ultra healings and prayed twice to live with that nasty poison. The same level happened to have a surge of power - named chaos serveant who dropped Crown of Leadership. And soon after I found bunch of blink dogs who were willing to give me many corpses despite no food preservation. It's been crazy so far - I'm looking forward to seeing what my precrowning gift will be - before I travel to Pyramid, Darkforge and ToEF (found lightning ball and frost bolt spellbooks lying around, too!) |

Hmm well... it was the tract of chaos and i did not look at itīs weight. Maybe because iīve never found any tracts before that. But from now on I will have always a second look before reading something! Thatīs sure. B.t.w. the attempt to "calm down" the kobold was a succes and so I spared his life :) - 2 moves later he got "afraid" and ran away.. *big smile* -H- """""""""""""""" " SPELL IT " """""""""""""""" |
