if you are a sensitive person, then stop reading this now. you might begin to cry.
for the first time in my life i reached leven 11. everything was perfect. my dwarven beastfighter wass the best character ive ever played. his god loved him. i reached dwarftown, sold some things, sacrificed some things, and generally enjoyed my time. did the first quest, which was to kill a hobgoblin.went down to animated forest, but escaped up to dwarftown to regnenerate for a while. then the alarm went (i dont know why, i did not attack anyone), and THAT STUPID MENTALLY ILL INSANE DISTURBED WALDENBROOK ATTACKED AND MURDERED ME! GAAAAAH!!!!!!
why? why did he murder my dwarf in cold blood?
at least one thing is for sure... WALDENBROOK WONT SURVIVE MY NEXT VISIT! RAAAAH! YHURGH! AAAARRRRRGGGHHH! BEWARE!
DIE, WALDENBROOK, DIIIIIIIIIIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

would you torture waldenbrook to death if he existed for real?

Did you have the unholy aura corruption? Shopkeepers really don't like that, because it frightens away their customers.

Were you wearing an armour of hate? That will make everyone hostile.

Did you convert the Dwarftown altar?

It may happen with out those things - once my lvl 24 barbarian got attacked the same way in dwarftown - the funniest thing, is that the guardians helped me kill the muscular dwarves, and also attacked the shopkeeper :)
It may be a bug. (i checked for the aura, no hate items too)

The priest is also a bloody bastard. He picked up the chaos orb of fire! It's a long story... But can I get it back from him anyway besides killing, possibly pick pocketing? I'm crowned neutral so I gotta watch out for alignment changes for slaughtering the whole town...

EDIT: Heh, this char had even more bad/dumb/newbie luck, ever forgot you had the mana absorbtion corruption in a wand shop? I was only something like lvl 14 at the time, the keeper was really tough, I couldn't get out and I hadn't the money to pay him, no teleportation available. I almost died but still had some spenseweed left when I noticed I had the invisibility spell...

2nd edit: That might sound a bit confusing, but the shop thing really happened before the priest started fecking with me...

You are in quite a bad situation, aren't you? :)

First, pickpocketing won't recover the orb and that means you'll have to kill the priest. There are several ways to do that without turning Dwarftown hostile:

-Get a companion to do it
-Lead a hostile monster to the priest (the greater demon which has been terrorizing Dwarftown works)

If that fails, get the priest hostile by pickpocketing, then lead him to the stairs, go up, and kill him on another level.

Actualy killing him elsewhere won't help, his ghost will pop up and rat you out to the dwarves once you re-enter dwarftown...

Strangely enough i had the greater demon following me around around Dwarf Town and noooo one made a move to attack it. I led it to the priest too but he was pretty indifferent so i just saced it on the altar aniwae
