I was playing a trollish monk just a few minutes ago and I noticed something strange: There was a shop on PC:2. The ant hole was next to the shop and when i got there, the shop entrance was two squares wide. I thought that maybe the ants had dug the wall but aren't shop walls supposed to be undiggable?

I did a backup-save-test: I picked up the rune-covered sling "whirlwind" (which happened to be in the shop:)) and walked out past the shopkeeper. As soon as I stepped out the shop, he whacked me to death (as I expected).

Any similar experiences?

Yep.

Wands of destruction do the same thing. \

Are you sure the shop wall was completely undiggable though? I could swear I've seen some that weren't.

Some aren't, some are.
I've made away with all of a store's contents before using a Wand of Digging, but the Thugs still come out (if the store you're robbing has them)--you just have to take off.

*side note, speaking of robbery*
What's the best race for theif, and how should you play one? I've always wanted a good theif, but I die with em. THANKS!

Thieves are frail. I've never gotten one past level 12.

That said, I think a troll would be your best bet for sheer survival (if you can solve the food problem) since they start out fairly strong and tough.

Humans and Draklings make the best Thieves. Elves aren't bad, but just to weak, as are Hurthlings...

If you really want to try something interesting, try creating a trap next to the shopkeeper.

If it's a curruption trap stand in the enterence and wait there till he steps on the trap enough times and he'll become something quite scary...

If it's a teleportation trap then you can quite easily steal the shop contents before he gets back.

If it's a direct damaging trap you might get the blame, I'm not too sure, so best be careful :S

Wahoo!!! Now it's rolling man!!!

Currently playing my best game ever: lvl20 drakish priest, crowned with the holy scarf, saved Khelly, got the RotHK, got fire and water orbs and... THE RING OF THE MASTER CAT!!!! My first time ever to get this far and I got the ring!! ME HAPPY!!

BTW, I found a ring of ice and a ring shop which contained THREE of them.

BTW 2: How long does it take to finish the game? I played about five hours or so and I guess I'm nearly halfway to the end... Just throw me some evaluation.

BTW 3(duh..): What should I do in the casino? I passed it for now. Are the items there always unidentified? I don't have Strenght of Atlas spell so I can't pick up everything and identify them... I also found a RoDS. What to wish for? I've got 6 SoCR, maybe more of them...? suggestion and other advices are more than welcome.

Thanks.

Some hints: a wish - I think you don't need more SoCR, unless you are going to wander around instead of going straight to D:50 :). Good wishes are: 7lb boots (if you don't have them yet), maybe GoGS, a foo of penetration, wands of death (or spellbook, just remember to check Death Ray's clerical name, I wasted a wish like that once). Or anything you might need :).

I know that one guy won the game playing non-stop for 9 hours. Ordinary ending, not ultimate.

In the casino, pick up just those items you haven't identified yet (scrolls, potions, wands) or particularly EXPENSIVE stuff. Arrows/quarrels too, slaying ammo is useful.

Whoah and you're only level 20?

That's right, only lvl20. But not any more:

The wish was spent on spellbooks of strenght of atlas/lordly might (I don't regret that. Extremely useful spell, I'm using it all the time). No artifacts in the casino, "Wyrmlance" in the darkforge, got Air and Earth orbs (Meleed the guardians and almost everything else), found GoGS (dropped by karmic dragon)and a wand of death.

Before I did anything of those, I paid the water dragon a visit. Then to Blup and back again to collect the reward and to rob her cave. As soon as I picked up something she teleported next to me, hit me four times in a row and got me down to exactly -> 1 <- hp. Then I cast darkness, used tons of spenseweed and whacked her to death (to my suprise she didn't panic nor hit me, dunno why). I think I was about lvl26 when I killed her.

Cleared the bug temple, so now I've got 11 SoCR and 3 PoCC. Enough?

At the moment, I just decapitated the black unicorn. Lvl35 now...

Any last minute tips before I'll depart to kick Nuurag's ass (I've got death ray resistance) and make the final dive?

Guinea, You were right when you said I was very close to winning. And now closer than ever... Thanks.

A tip: be_VERY_careful_with_Nuurag - he kicks asses. Even with DR resistance he deals some awesome damage. You need a source of healing (Water Orb, or potions) and a source of light (not necessary, but useful). Nuurag is hard to hit and hard to kill, he drains stats as well.

Slaying ammo(blessed of course) is good, as always, that is if you can get a clear shot. And remember that you can't teleport away if he's beating you up.

POOFFF!!! despite the resistance, one hit from death ray took me down to -102hp! Dammit!!

I'll kill that "¤%&"## chaos mage! I'll get there again some day! Just wait...

Poor you. That's a pity. I killed the bastard 2 times and never got killed by him. Guinea vs Nuurag 2:0 and I'm waiting for the third time :)

Arrggghhh....

I just had a trollish monk get killed by him, too bad... that's the highest I've ever gone with a troll...

But can I say trollish monks *rock*?! The normal Troll food problem is almost nonexistant... and monks are very strength-dependent, which is something trolls start out with a lot of (mine started out at 27!)

The guardian of the orb of mana. A chaos archmage or whatever. Tough. Nice corpse.

If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
