You've probably "felt corrupted" before, when attacked by a chaos being such as a corruptor or chaos brother. You can also be corrupted by traps - "You are engulfed by some kind of purple radiation". Background corruption is another way to get corrupted - you get corrupted simply by spending time in the deeper levels, and the deeper you go, the faster it gets. This is presumably because the chaos radiation is seeping in from the Chaos Gate, so places closer to the gate are more affected. Unfortunately, you have to go all the way down to win the game. Being corrupted has a range of effects. A few are good, like being extremely thin and nimble, but most are bad, like having poison drip from your hands. If you get too corrupted, you transform into a Writhing Mass of Primal Chaos (ever met one of those?) and the game ends. |
