Many times. In low levels they are pretty hard to kill, but when you get little more levels they are just little hard. =) "When watching anime, never worry about the consequences." |

Yes, they are tough and have very high PV. Either melee it with a weapon of penetration or keep casting Magic Missile at it (they are immune to elemental attacks). |

Yeah, I've never managed to kill any. It just hurts they are immune to all spells (except for magic missile, I hear, but that spell is crappy anyway :) |

If burning hands is supposed to bypass PV, than why have I seen the message "The attack doesn't penetrate 'foo'defenses" (or something like that...) several times? Anyone else seen this? It usually happens with low-level characters. I hereby announce that I am more than willing to kill anyone who dares to cross my way |

archangel burning hands isnt supposed to bypass pv, its just supposed to bypass resistances, when someone shrugs off a spell. and man a magic missle ball spell would be godly, the only problem with magic missle is that so many people shrug it off, plus the damage isnt too great. |

If some monster has a fire resistance, message "'foo' resists the searing flames" is generated. I'm talking about monsters that have no fire resistance. e.g. Once I played a GE elementalist, went straight to the outlaw village. A hostile outlaw leader gave me a warm welcome and when I tried to scorch him with 'burning hands', it said something like:"the attack doesn't penetrate the 'monster's' defences... Or is it possible that some outlaw leaders have fire resistance? calvin: try a high level magic missile - an easy way of getting rid of many monsters resistant to elemental magic. It even works fine on the black druid. OTOH it's very easy to kill oneself with it (once killed my char on D:50 with misdirected magic missile) archangel: death ray ball ? You mean deathball ? Or even better, improved deathball :-) And where is improved ice/lightning/acidball or stun ball. Or petrification ball... |

Junnu: magic missile is not crappy. At low levels maybe but be in the wrong end of a LV100 Magic Missile and you won't be saying it is crappy anymore (that is, if you survive). My latest winning char got some diamond golems in the air temple (summoned by the master summoner). Adic ball was useless against them and melee didn't seem to work either, but couple of magic missiles made short work of them. And, IIRC, in that game I also killed Nuraag-Vaarn with magic missile.
