I noticed that my priests get more spellbooks than my wizards in 1.1.1. shouldn't it be the other way around? |

I actually didn't know that anyone could get more spellbooks than wizards. "I want ye to slay a female goblin slavemaster ghul. Return to me when you have succeded." |

You also probably didn't know it's stupid to bring back up 10 month old topics. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Something on the ground is smashed to pieces! PeanutGod: Awwww no! How harsh is that! This is where you need the artefact 'mop and bucket'. |

If I remember correctly, her question was answered in another post (either it was a double, or she posted 2 similar topics - somthing like that). A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel. A realist sees a train. And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks. |

(Maybe I should log in...nah, too lazy) Well, anyways, I seem to get VERY many spellbooks with my wizzie. The Village Dungeon gave me 7 books, puppy cave added 3 and infinity 3 on the first two levels. Might be of the Creator's Day luck bonus (had to try, read it just from the guide). Anyway, my Dark Elf Wizard is doing great with all the spells, except that I don't get offensive spells. Found a healing spell as second book (helps a lot to keep him alive) and then Neutralize Poison. Now if I'd find Cure Disease (or something like that, don't remember the name), I could take full advantage of khobolds... But the lack of offensive lead me to throwing weapons. Took sling and now I'm pumping the skill in it, doing fairly well. Only weird thing I see, is that how on earth do you use a sling while dual wielding shields? I could think it would be impossible, but my wizzie seems to do fine. I bet there are some disadvantages to hit, but I still kill people with my sling. Ok, this went OT, but I'm so excited about this wizard. he has so much potential. I decided not to even save scum with him, and that will prolly kill him to some internal error (which seem to come at most unpleasant times). Right, well, I'm off to continue playing (gotta limit the time...stopped playing far in the night yesterday..err today :) a hell in school now to stay awake). |

Aaarrgh! I hate it when I'm right! Damn signal 291!!!!! Just got him pumped up with offensive and then crash! D'arvit! And then lost a very good high elven archer to my own stupidity. I was boxing an altar with doors when accidently used wand of magic missile instead of door creation...bounce, bounce, poks my archer. How very stupid. Have to start another one today... oh, sorry for taking this way OT, but since it seemed to be all dead anyway.. |

That's true. Elementalists don't get as many books as wizards. They don't need to. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Well, I can't survive only with elemental bolt and ball spells. Elementals get more spells when gaining exp levels. So spells don't last long. Shoot couple bolts and they run out... Please tell me tips how to survive without spellbooks when playing as an elementalist. My only tool : Blessed Ancient Guitar "Washburn" {Wi+15} (+200 spd) |

You start out with burning hands and frost bolt (I think). Go straight to Bugville. Kill two bugs. You've now expended about four or five bolt spells, while getting your character to a higher level and getting the spell castings that come with it. Or, alternatively, just use a tough race (troll, orc, dwarf) that will be able to kill things in melee initially. Or a hurthling, for the skill in thrown rocks. At any rate, your best strategy is to gain levels initially without using a lot of your castings; that way there are always some in reserve. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

With any type of spellcaster, you shouldn't rely totally on spells. It isn't too hard to kill a kobold or a rat in melee. Use a spear with a shield to get the best DV. You're playing an elf. Elves have good dex, they're great with bows, use them! Slaying ammo is wonderful. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
