Good one:D
Dip it into Holy Water (you get Holy Water by droping water on an altar, but your god must be "very pleased" with you).

An optimist sees a light at the end of that tunnel.
A realist sees a train.
And the train driver sees three idiots on the tracks.

It's also possible (although rare) to find holy or unholy (cursed) water lying around the dungeon.

If you can't find an altar to find out whether your water is holy or not, you can use shops. Let's say you might have 3 piles of water potions - 1 of 1, 1 of 2 and 1 of 6. It's probably safe to assume to large pile is normal uncursed water. "D"rop 1 from the pile of 6 in the shop and take note of the price offered. (Don't accept the shopkeepers offer though.) Then drop 1 from one of the other piles. If the price offered is more than the price offered for the potion from the first pile then it's Holy Water, if it's lower then it's Unholy Water.

I drop one from all three piles... it's less confusing... besides, dipping a SoCR into plain water is something you just don't want to take risks on.
