Okay, now, I have no idea which weapon I should wield. I got three contestants.

Contestant Number One:
bless rustproof adamantium dagger of penetration (+5, 1d4+8)
Weapon Level at 8
Now, I like this weapon, cuz it bypasses PV. I just cleared the Dwarf Blacksmith place with this baby. And, I wasted 6 scrolls and a potion on it.

Contestant Number Two:
The artifact, Scorch Spear
Weapon Level at 10
Well, I dunno, would this be any use to me? Should I give it to the demented ratling? Its artifact, so its unbreakable, so I don't know.

Contestant Number Three:
Uncursed Yellow Mythril Broadsword of Devistation (+0, 5d7+13)
Weapon Level at 0
I just found this weapon at the blacksmith Dwarf blacksmith place, and probally the reason I'm writing this thread. Should I switch to this weapon? PV won't matter anyways cuz of its raw damage.

Now, I can't choose, which weapon should I train in? Which weapon to use for which occasion?

Carry all three; they're not going to be heavy enough to bother you even if you're playing a hurthling.

Use the dagger on molochs and other monsters with high PV (like those golems)... keep the Scorched Spear for corroding oozes (does "plant slayer" slay oozes? even if it doesn't, an artifact weapon is a good thing to have).

If you want to train with that broadsword, go right ahead; it's a very good weapon. But don't take on anything you can't handle until you've got a decent skill level in it; at this point with your skill in polearms you'll still be doing more damage with the spear.

Plant Slayer slays "P" (only two monsters are plants IIRC). You need "Jelly Slayer" to slay oozes.
I would train with the spear and use the dagger on special ocasions (molochs/GMolochs, steel/diamond golems and the like).

Ooh, yes, I did forget... are you in the month of the Raven? (Blup's mom would have a very nice polearm for you in that case)... which definitely tips the scales in favor of your spear.

Yes, that would be ideal....

but keep that dagger in case you run into an eternium golem! They can be a real pest.

Blub's mom has one for you any way - those born in Raven can get it faster (it's random, but Ravens have better odds of getting it quick).

Sure, if you wanna wait a year and get corrupted while you're at it... Personally, I couldn't finish the game in less than a year anyway, but still...

I'm born in candle, needed that free talent, and the increase healing is pretty useful. I guess I'll just carry all three then. Or maybe even sell the broadsword. I helped Blup a while ago, so I would be expecting the weapon in about, erm, 10 months or so?

BTW, plant slayer kills trees. Animated Trees that is. Especially useful when I have my cloak of invisibility on and backstabbing on 100.

I think getting that weapon has little or nothing to do with game time(or real time) but more about a random number of game turns, which is much shorter for raven people. That's because I usually avoid the wilderness and most of my games end at under 90 days or so. Just play your game normally and an elemental will come to drop it off to you in some stage of the game. Probably quite in the late game, when you're going after one of the last orbs.

Another theory is that getting the weapon has something to do with getting exp.

Maybe we should just post here (level, experience, kills, etc.) whenever we get the runed trident. Enough examples and we may start to notice a pattern.

i haven't gotten it yet with my fighter and hes level 30 but i went back and talked to blups mom and she said something like "you will get your reward when you have less chance of losing it" so i think it might be exp but when my guy gets it i'll post level exp and game time exactly when i got it. -Botched

Or would she mean the weapon skill level of polearms? (so that you won't be disarmed by master swordman or fencer and then lose the weapon?)

I don't think that's the case, my first ever charactor, a priest, got it when his polearm weapon was low. (At least, I think. He died like a year ago).

Hey, do you think this is good so far? I'm level 25, just pass the casino.

On a side note, my drakeling thief got the weird tome! Yay!

On another side note, I cleared a dragon vault and the Great Black Wyrm dropped a corpse and a scroll of chaos resistence! (I was lucky, I stabbed him, and he raged, and attacked himself, nearly killing him, and then I killed him. Hurray for bugs!)

On one more side note, I found a scroll shop and it sold a chaos resistence! Whoop!

Warlord: Were you by chance in the dwarven halls?

Gordismo: I'd say you've got some pretty nice gear. Only thing I'd try to look for is some better rings. Your a thief right? Just pickpocket everything you can. Also I think that iron is the only metal that rusts so that would be a wasted potion on that dagger. Can't help you with the multi-headed dragon. I've never even tried to face him because I'm still trying to win a normal game first before doing all those UE quests.

"Also I think that iron is the only metal that rusts so that would be a wasted potion on that dagger"

DOH!

I'm willing to bet that I won't be able to take down the multi-headed dragon yet. I'll wait till my stats get better. BTW, are corruptions from the dragon's corpse undoable?

Anyways, I got a ring of slaying to replace the ring of defense. Then I found a red dragon vault (by the time I was done, I was at ~210 speed), with three(!)artifacts and a wand of wishing with two charges! That was without treasure hunter.

I feel so lucky. 2 WoW in one game.

No, the corruptions from the M-HChD are like any other. Read 3 scrolls of Chaos Resistance to get rid of them (yes, you get THAT corrupted, but it's worth it).

A wizard of mine ate Nuurag-Vaarn but didn't get any mana increase (in older versions you got +12). He did get the speed increase, so that's pretty much the same thing as it is with the new killer bugs/greater claw bugs. I believe his mana was already in the 50's or so.

So might want to consider eating that dragon if you're stats are already high you might not get any increases. I don't know if the dragon's corpse is different from others but at least undead corpses seem to get very ineffective after your toughness reaches 30. You get the idea... Someone ought to test these things in the new versions.

Wohoo! Killed him! Ate his corpse, not a very good stat increase (at least, not even half of what the guide says it does), but what the heck, I had the Unicorn remove all the corruptions for me.

Though I do feel like a walking tank.

Yeah, probally the higher your stats, the less your gains.

I think it's not level (char or dungeon) based. I've got it with a level 10 char in the Assassin's guild (finished the quest and then went directly to Assassin's guild).

It definately not dungeon level based. (Meaning that entering any dungeon level whatsoever has no effect). Just a coincidence(sp?) you got it when going down the stairs.

Level 10? Lucky bastard :D

I lost my seven leagues boots (+9, +10) in the blue dragon caves :(.

On a happier note, I beat the Moloch Emperer!

Went in, zapped a wand of monster detection, teleported, attacked, got hit for 1/4 of my hit points, then I got hit for another 1/4. Then, he criticled me, and I was left at 1(!) HP. I thought I died there. I just prayed and killed him off then. Good thing I chose the seven league boots with the (+0, +1) than the one with the (+2,+0).

Ahhh, I love my Rustproof adamantium dagger of penetration (+9, 1d4+9) (+2, +0)

And the ToTRR rocks!

I'm gonna spend a day or two finding potions of -stat- until I go and face Andy. Wish me luck.

Die Shyssiryxius! Drop a corpse darn you! Stupid useless pile of rubbish, don't you carry anything good cept this potion of learning? Wait, what's that below the wand of item detection? Woah, man, is that a... wand of wishing? SWEET! Lets read a blessed scroll of identify. Woah... Five Charges!

:D

Which stat should I wish for?

St: 59 Le: 35 Wi: 59 Dx: 32 To: 59 Ch: 20
Ap: 22 Ma: 59 Pe: 33

Or maybe, which item should I wish for? Currently, I have 9 SoCR, you think I would be needing more when I fight with Andy? Should I save the wand for speed later? (current speed: 194, have 5 potions of boost speed)

How about skills? You think I would be needing alchemy for potions of youth? How about Concentration?

I want to record the battle, how can I do this?

EDIT: Nevermind, I wished for alchemy, thought I was tank enough to fight a while in the small cave. Guess what? I found a ghost lord, and it managed to hit me, and now I'm very old. The thing is, the recipe is potion of wonder and potion of boost speed, and I just drank all 10 of my potions of wonder before wishing!

Gordismo: If you still have any charges left on that wand of wishing, you need to wish for potions of youth NOW. Since there's nothing else you need urgently, keep the other wishes until you need them. Use one on speed when you arrive at the Chaos Plane.

I take it that you know all the criteria for passing through the Chaos Gate safely, and that you already have the Crown and Medal of Chaos and are a crowned champion of your chosen alignment?

Once you've removed your unnatural aging, you should be ready to take Andy on. If you've come this far without Concentration, you can finish without it. Casting spells on the Chaos Plane is a bad idea anyway.

9 SoCR should be more than enough, but I'm unsure exactly what your situation is. If you are going for Avatar of Order, you'll be fine. Since the unicorn cleansed you, you won't be at risk of becoming a WMoPC, and you'll be able to remove any particularly awful corruptions (like stiff muscles) that happen during the fight with Andy.

If you are going for Avatar of Balance or UCG, though, you'll need to be extremely corrupted when you head through the gate. You may find that you use up some of those SoCR "rearranging" your corruptions so that the horrible ones are near the end of the list and can easily be removed.

Are you worried about the ghost lords on D:50? They can't see invisible. Just don't cast ball spells or zap wands of fireball, because that'll let them know where you are. Have a blessed potion of youth in case they manage to get a hit in.

About you left at 1 hp, I think more likely you just got a good luck roll (you do have lucky+fate smiles don't you?) and you would've died without your luck and that +1 PV didn't matter. I think it's quite often that you're left with 1 hp. Think about it, how many times have you been left at 2 or 3 hp after a critical hit? I bet you've been left with 1 hp more often.
