I'd suggest playing a hurthling. With luck you'll get that great heir dagger(which I forgot to mention in another thread two minutes ago). They also have food preservation and thrown rocks skill at 4. That's good in the early game to kill anything tough you can't handle. Also always, every single time you can: pickpocket! You'll get lots of useful items this way(water, scrolls for example). I've also read a couple of times that someone has pickpocketed an artifact off some monster so use that skill! You also have lots of utility skills like picking locks, might want to use them also.

With your hurthling I'd suggest you take the speed increasing talents and long stride so that you can run away from anything that you're too weak to handle. And remember to throw rocks(or use a sling, hurthlings train faster with slings also) and pickpocket.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Remember that your thief is prolly very weak, so detect/disarm trap at every locked door (or even all doors) , since you can't really afford a fireball blast or a stone block.

Thieves make very interesting and fun to play chars, but also very hard to survive. Don't worry if your thieves tend to die early. It takes time to learn to play them.

Ok, try to detect traps on ALL doors, flee when you see a monster you are uncertain to defeat. Thieves level up pretty fast, so the hardest part is the beginning. Get healing skill fast. Use First Aid when possible. If you find potions of invisibility, save them. When you encounter though monsters, drink and backstab, very powerful...

The most important is to keep trying. You'll learn the little tricks in time..

Anarchy, you really don't want that shop robbing class ability, trust me. When you get to the casino and want to pick up everything and ID them before buying anything the game'll ask you if you want to steal the item with every single item. VERY annoying. That should be set up as a variable such as autopickup or something...

yes, the robbing shops thing is hopeless... cause at the casino u already have infinite money... although if u get it before the casino u can do a cool trick... since the percentage of whether u get to steal an item without being detected(yes there is a percentage) is not dependant on what the item is, u should gather your 100+ si on one shop square and rob them, if successful, sell them =), repeat for infinite cash or an angry shopkeeper =)
