Hey any of you guys actually make a roguelike? Its pretty tough but theres nothing like the feeling of having your own game. I am in the process of developing a game right now, and if anybody wants to give any input email me at slugsizzler@hotmail.com. A beta version should be posted on the internet in the next couple of months.

Not realy, I made a basic C++ program where I could move a @ around with the arrow keys once, that's about it. No maps no collision detection or anyting...

Yeah, I'm making mine in C++. The basic design is it takes a text file and turns it into a matrix which can then me moved around in with collision detection etc.

I have the beginnings of a roguelike written in RapidQ. It generates random levels and allows the player to move through them. That's all I have so far. Would anyone be interested in it?

Would anyone be interested in it... you bet! I would give a million dollars for a room and corridor making algorithim.

Right now I just use a database of 800 levels and ranomly choose one.

The room and corridor algorithim needs a minor fix but other then that it works pretty good. The only problem is, it's written in RapidQ which I don't think many people use. I have no idea how hard it would be to convert it to C++ or some other language

How do you write programs in C++ ? Instead of writing your own roguelikes would you be able to edit the source code for adom?Regardless of copyright issues would it be technically possible? If so just image...your own personal game of adom.Bet it'd be hard to implement though

Yeah, because you'd have to hack into Thomas's computer to get the sources! He hasn't and probably won't release the source till ADOM goes commercial. (Like 3-5 years, probably)

Hi Guys

Just an update on my roguelike. I've gotten the dungeon generation perfected to my tastes and i'm now working on a monster editor and randomly generating monsters. Running into problems in RapidQ cause making arrays outta strings sucks in it. I'm going to have to write my own read and write functions to read names from file. I also decided to go with a windows interface instead of a console which is why I've been away so long. Had to rewrite my code for windows.

Well anyways if anyone's interested in helping or wants to check it out just let me know. razorsedge77@hotmail.com is my email
