How did everyone discover ADOM? Was it a specific search for Rogue-like games? A random search for something to play? Friend's recommendation?
Myself, I was looking for an interesting MUD to play, and opened a page with this game on it, sounded interesting so I gave it a try, and have been pretty much addicted ever since. I've tried other rogue-likes since, but they just don't measure up to ADOM, as far ease of play and depth go. Thoughts on the subject?

Is ADOM the best rogue-like around?

Being an internet newbie at that time, I searched for free games in Download.com, and found that the number of downloads for ADOM was very high...and then....
At the beginning, I thought it would be a boring game. But then checked the manual and spoilers, discovered that it isn't so....
I admired the fact that the game is so well-designed and written in C (i think...). I had just started learning programming at that time, and ADOM had given me the courage to continue the study.

I got kinda hooked on a little game called "wildernes survival" that is vaguely roguelike-ish that came with a Computer mag cover disk (the floppy kind).

I'd never hard of roguelike games before so I though it was kinda uniqe and fun, but then a friend of mine told me about a simmilar but much more advanced game called "ADOM" he had been playing with on his Amiga lately (he'd gotten it off Aminet), and that there aparently was a PC version out there too :)

Didn't have Internett at home back then, but fortunately it fit on a floopy, so I was eable to track it down during computer class :)

and the great thing is: it still fits on a floppy. You cant say that for too many good games anymore.
My favourite piece of graffitti I ever was on a bathroom stall: "People who write here are FAAGS!"
