Sorry, this is too long but I've just got to boast since I can't recall when I got such a good start last time:) I think I can make pretty far with this one! Who needs treasure hunter? Forget about bards and their good luck. The manual describes the mana stat as sort of a luck factor. Well, Gorr the orcish barbarian really seems to think otherwise. He's done the VD, PC, and UD and has found some nice items :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Screenshot ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ................................................................................ ................................................................................ ........................................==================...................... .........=============================================================.......... .....=====##########=################################################=====...... .....=#####...#.T...==..............# #...........................#####=...... ....==#TTT#...#......===.####.......# #.............#############...# =...... ....=###TT##/##...T....=.#..#.......#####......T...T..#[@.........#...# ==..... ....=#>#T%.............=.#......T...............#=#...#..@........#...# #==.... ....=#.#......==....T.==.#..#......#.######....T=.=T..##/##########...# #T=.... ....=#..........===...=..####......#......#.....#=#...................# #.=.... ....=######..T....=====............########....T...T.............###### #.=.... ....==#...#.........=....########............................T...]....# ##==.... .....=#.../....T..===........#..#.....................T..........#....# #=...... .....=#####..............#......#...##..##..T....................#..#####=...... .....=====############################..#############################=====...... .........===========================##..##============================.......... ...................................===..===..................................... ................................................................................ ................................................................................ IMHO tips for your promising character: - Get water and bless your sword, DMGring. - Rustproof yer swords w/ blessed OoRR. - Put that metal cap on, methinks PV more important than DV (and that Pe-2!, and less weight) - get your hands on a Dark sage corpse -> bless it and get literacy for free (no artifact potion from dat dwarf - Barbarian has Herbalism, right? Find some herbs, organize them in 2X2 squares (especially morgia root & moss of mareilon) - train your Shield skill to max w/ that shield (level 9) w/ easy monsters by taking off most armour and fighting defensively. It's quite easy and help alot -> +10 DV w/ 5 levels - cross yer fingers again when going to darkforge, there might be pretty decent sword down there.. FateSmile/Lucky/Blessed helps that! - Orcs rule! Look at those stats!! Who needs mana anyway... U can manage the endgame w/ some penetrating weapons quite easily. How about a wicked eternium scimitar of penetration? =) possible... What talents&skills does he have? Going for the melee master? Methink it's quite useless to waste so many talent just to get +3 to dama&tohit... Thumbs up for those real challenges awaiting at CoC lower levels... BTW: I'm currently badly addicted to Icesus. That's the MUD that was mentioned somewhere in this forum. Haven't played MUDs for five years, but this one snatched me right off... I'm badly neglecting my ADOMism... Icesus |

I have to admit I know pretty much about the game it's just the gaming itself in which I suck. So yeah I knew pretty much all of that but thanks anyway:) Herbalism(stomafillia) is very good for getting crowned. Usually I diss the darkforge as pretty much because I never find anything useful there and even now I found one(count 'em, one!) metal armour there(admantium scale mail). The rest of the armours were clothes, robes, furs and spider shells. Pretty crappy. OTOH, found Purifier and Wyrmlance in the weapons section amongst quite a few eternium thingies :) Still I'm quite satisfied with Vanquisher which I got for crowning. I've done the dwarven quests, including the portal quest(found RoDS in the graveyard, convenient, as my next stop was to meet kelly:D), got courage and did the pyramid now thinkning of getting the RotHK before going to the ToEF. After I kill this one off I do have a gnome bard generated yesterday wating.(with heir+alert from start, naturally:) I've got high hopes of him having good luck :) Oh and wheyon what race/class you playing? If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away. Dark elf Priest. I cant seem to get a wish, I drank out darkforge, and Dont want to become fallen champion for diggin up graves. Thats one thing im unlucky with, wishes. Got Shirt of saints for crowning, but wasnt able to figure out pre yet. I feel kinda lame getting the gladius solely for the Tactics skill. I guess graveyard is my best bet now for wishes eh? wear amulets and armors of balance/order when diggin'. It doesn't lower yer alignment too much. Just dig one and go give beggars some food and mony etc and come back to dig some more. U probably knew this already but I mean my messages to everyone reading these threads like that message before.. Is your dark elf lawful? Wow, that's hard to accomplish.. Icesus |

He was lawful for a bit, but got crowned neutral because its easier to keep it that way. I dont think I have any beggars left in Lawweeitn~~ I'll check. and ya, I guess that makes sense about informing noobs. Damn. Nothing. Except an eternium large shield. Shiity. At least I have a beggar who hails me now. I guess I cant save Khelly with this guy. I dont even have a climbing set! My favourite piece of graffitti I ever was on a bathroom stall: "People who write here are FAAGS!" |

There is a guaranteed climbing set in 1st floor of the pyramid! Or is yer char too experienced to enter? Check from guidebook map, it's in the east edge of the floor. All we need is a guaranteed AoLS... ;) And about that beggarless outlaw village: Get a pet and slay every unimportant NPC in the village. Exit and return -> brand new set of population... U can give almost anything ateable to the beggars (u noticed my endline?), cleaning munxip's shop is one way, cos' he generates more food quickly. U can give 50$ to a beggar and chat with him and receive a bottle of booze, which can be traded for more useful potions. If the beggar doesn't drop a bottle (gives an advice), give 50$ again. When the booze is dropped, u can *get rid of him* and get new beggars to the village. This is probably considered scumming, but fair enough for me ;) Icesus [Edited 2 times, last edit on 7/4/2003 at 13:20 (GMT -5) by Ass Whisper] |

wow. Ive never heard about that. I guess I thought I was too good to talk to a beggar. (sometimes I act like more of a paladin rather than a priest). I dont think Its scumming, just because Its so unguarunteed what you get from trading the booze. I beat Rehetep on lv 13, thank you baptism of fire. So Ill go get that set and hope for RoDS or WoW or pool in the high kings dungeon. My favourite piece of graffitti I ever was on a bathroom stall: "People who write here are FAAGS!" |

Another guaranteed climbing set is in the gremlin cave. Also, wearing an amulet of order makes you more lawful but doesn't affect how much the digging affects your alignment. So, when digging up graves you'd best be off with wearing an amulet of balance when doing the digging and changing it to an amulet of order when walking around, etc. If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.
