I have an eternium two-handed sword (+18 6d5 +20) that i'm using with my level 30 human fighter. I also have a crowning gift, the "Vanquisher" (+3 6d5 +3) obviously if there were no special attributes to the artifact I would use the eternium one, but the "Vanquisher" is a slayer of almost everything (dragons, undead, constructs, humanoids, and a few others i cant remember) Almost everything I attack it says it "vanquishes" it. Is the artifact better than the eternium one because of this? What does the slaying attribute add to the attack of the sword? Does anyone know?

There is a reason, that someone said "playing with Vanquisher is almost no fun"
Critical hit every time you hit a "slayable" monster. And since Vanquisher slays everything but bugs and animals...
A normal GM is dangerous not because he can take ~100 hp every hit - it's because his criticals do over 600.
Unless that eterinium two-hander is "murderous", and you have Find Weakness - Vanquisher is your weapon of choice. And always will be ^^ (besides - the "heavy weapon" talents work with it, and don't work with any non-artefact two-handed sword ;P)

Indeed, Vanquisher is really deadly with some skill in two-handed weapons. For instance, my gnomish barbarian (crowned with Vanquisher) killed the fire tower orb guardian with two hits (not using the foo blows). After first hit it was critically injured and the second hit killed it. Funnily enough, I had much more trouble with the fire demons and fire grues...

I've nothing to add to this topic but... Use Vanquisher! It's a whole lot better. BUT, be vewwy vewwy caweful, you're not invincible with it! I usually get overconfident and cocky when I get it and slay most monsters in one hit. Then with a bit of bad luck a bigger monster gets me.

I agree with J. - the great Vanq does not slay cats and Cat lords (found out the hard way :( ). Also greater claw bugs are a drag with it (not to mention killers).

They go like this:

Spoiler
Water->Air->Earth->Mana (fire is in the wilderness, so I don't include it here).
Air temple has lightining discharges, that can, and often do, destroy your items. Earth has annoying elementals and grues, that walk through walls, Mana has the Archmage (he's a pain in the @$$, keeps draining stats, casting darkness and death ray)

Thats sucks. My stats have already been drained a lot and i've "unnaturally" aged about 30 years. I guess i have to go back and get the druids quest. I've only got one more corruption to go!

Dont know what FOO means but to get crowned your char. has to be at the Absolutely close level. He/She cannot be wearing anything that causes corruption (I.E. Crown of science, Black Tork) when you get absolutely close to your deity, pray and he/she will reward you with an artifact and you will be immune to anything you weren't (SP?) already immune to. If this is wrong please correct me. I know there's more about this in the 'What is Pre-Crowning' Thread i posted a while ago.

Your Welcome Verdagon. Of course, remember, your not invincible as i just found out with my level 33 fighter *sniff* Have you gotten pre-crowning yet? it's really useful and you cant get it if you've been crowned. I hope your reading this before your getting crowned!

Verdagon, that has nothing to do with this topic. Could you make a new one (or post in a thread with something about crowning) next time?

Oh and foo means "<insert something here>". It's kind of like a wildcard. Think of an asterix when you make a search on the web. :P

Speaking of slayers, I just found a boomerang of slaying with my trollish barbarian. Never have found a one before, but I can ensure that it rocks. Like you had (almost) infinite slaying ammo (despite the short range, tho).
