I didn't know you could find artifacts from just normal monsters. And i really didnt know you could get them from wilderness encounters. I was coming from Dark Forge, when i got into a wilderness encounter. A lone red dragon. Thought it would be some okay exp. so i fought it. there was nothing specific about it when i was fighting it, but as soon as i killed it, it got a little intresting. It had the normal gold, a sickle, and a rune-covered sling...... wait a minute....? a rune-covered sling?!?!?! isnt that an artifact?! Indeed it is. IMO its not the greatest, but its not bad at all. Not a bad deal if you ask me! (: |

There is a [remote] possibility that you can get an artifact from pick pocketing, so why not getting one from a battle? |

Yep, it's possible. I've had artifacts dropped by low-level rats, goblins, and orcs before, though it's quite rare. Die Gedanken sind Frei |

Yeah, recently I found a rune-covered club in the Puppy cave. I was level 8 or so... very rare thing. |

I found a rune covered stone, but it was only a tombstone that I couldn't read ;P (Jeez, why is everyone talking about rune covered <foo> here? ;) ) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. I once found the emerald dagger dropped by an orc, why is everyone so happy about the rune-covered sling? I find the thing completly useless unless I have a hurthling (good artifacts) Ring of Imunnity Robes of resistance Perservance (saphire amulet matches ring of imunnity) Iron fist Cat's eye ring (ring of the master cat); MO |

C, you forgot Braces of War, just about the only usefull braces ;) (BoRegeneration can be usefull... but BoW do the same and more!) A pessimist sees a dark tunnel. Ooh... Preserver...An artifact that makes always my dark elven elementalists invincible...until I do something stupid and they die. :( Like I did with my last char: I sacrificed the Staff of the Wanderer (who wants this useless thing anyway?!), which had been given to me by crowning, and got cursed and doomed and the next monster I met was of course a doppleganger king, though I noticed it after I was dead... A typeo, just a typeo... Bracers of war are great for most of the game, I almost always end up saccing it, I like bracers of toughness (no duh it isn't an artifact) for the Drakon lvl. Well, ive trained a lot with slings (i dont know why, just kinda happened) and now that i have this i wont worry about it burning or whatever. Im just lucky i got it. (: |

I know one who got Skullcrusher stolen from Barnabas. And ofc in places like scintillating cave artifacts happen to appear from monsters often. |

ive got the rune covered sling from a red dragon many times, in fact its the only artifact i ever got from one of them while hunting for them. i have however, found lots of artifacts dropped by a goblin or some such. Dont you wonder though why the goblin wasnt wielding the artifact?hehe.kinda like rehetep..the ankh is a badass artifact but it doesnt grant him much luck does it?hehe my boyfriend once pickpocketed preserver level 2 of the infinite dungeon from a goblin...... although once an orc dropped me a wand of wishing first level on the way to get the ring of the high kings....i thought that was better than pickpocketing any artifact!(re: scrolls of chaos resistance and speed while i stabbed mr drakon with a certain trident ) ;) |
