i kniw the requirements and all but how exactly do you usually go about getting precrowned?

also, i have a character who's sent a few days down a dungeon sacrificing any elligible monster she comes across. i'm at very close and have been for a bit (despite all the prayers). how many more goblins and kobolds is it gunna take? should i run over to the CoC and hope there's an altar above dwarftown so that i can continue or carry on in the first level of the druid dungeon

hmmm... well, i dont know, exactly. It depends on your race, of course (i think you already knew that.) But i would just keep trying. Thats the fastest way i have ever gotten it (just kobolds and goblins.) Its easier if you are lawful. There are more monsters to sac. There is a thread i posted a while ago with some good hints, ill see if i can find it.

I have found being very close and then sacing 80,000 gold or an actifact or two does it. Blessed stomifilla in high numbers also works well regardless of race. I think little monsters only count a trivial part after you've been sacing them endless and are high level.

well, theyve counted a lot for mine right now. Im at level 13 and at very close, just from that. But if your at a high level, and have an artifact to spare, go ahead and sac it.

gold for me is always a problem. getting it from the casino is obviously easy enough before before then my only real source of income is flogging sis. this doesn't really work too well with dark elves :( it's probably better to sac them straight off if that's what you'd be using the money for. i hardly ever find artifacts outside quests. herbs aren't an option really for assassins as i'm not sure what races start off with herbalism. without it, it's more difficult

Whether you sac sis or sell them depends on the race. When you're a dwarf, you would obviously sell it, when you're a human, you'd want to sac it straight away. There are not many artifact tools in the game (I think there's an artifact hatchet or pickaxe, and those are counted under tools, but I'm not sure), and human deities like tools.

Hurthlings have it easy - they just sacc all those cooked corpses that they carry to increase their St. It doesn't take that long, especially if you meet a couple of wererats and werewolves, or, even better, some lesser vaults of orcs.

I sell sis for cash- easy to crown before you hit the casino- if you have high carrying capcity or have strength of atlas- i have sold 200 of them to a shop keeper, told my companion balor to kill the shopkeeper, took them back and sold them to waldenbrook and then i well enough gold to get a crowning- gold is the most direct way to crown, but if your a dark elf books are "deeply apreciated" or rob a royal vault, euip an amulet of greed, etc.

I'd never ever sac a book with chars who can learn spells. In my mind a dark elf qualifies. Maybe I'd sac the black tome if I found it and an altar wouldn't be that far away. Or maybe if I had 30000 castings of light, then I might sac a spellbook of light but I'd hafta think twice about it.

If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

I very rarely get any pre-crownings anymore, sacing 80k usually gets me crowned. I almost never get any artifacts other than the guarenteed 27, I think.

sacrificing the si is equivalent to sacrificing how much gold? my gnomish druid can sell (uncursed) them for 333 gold to waldenbrook.

just over 240 i think, that's a hell of a lot of sis though. if though they increase in numbers exponentially it would take a while for you to get them, and who would want to carry all that dead weight around anyway? anyone no how long it takes for them to replicate?

no, but i think it increases with how long youve had it. Or how deep in a dungeon youve gone.

I had a lvl 33 fighter who went down the ID doing this. i forgot to get rid of it first and every level i went down i got about 90 more. Im not sure if it was because of how deep i was or because of how long i had it, but it gets to be very annoying ;P.

DaN, that's an interesting point: do they increase exponentially (eg: double every 1000 turns), or linearly (eg: you get an extra one every 1000 turns, regardless of how many you have). And also, does the b/u/c status cause it to take longer/shorter to replicate?

Hm... I find using stomafillia the best way of getting crowned. Even without herbalism one can still get the required amount (supposing there is at least one permanent herb plot) though it takes a while longer and it takes only one scroll of uncursing to uncurse the lot. Then again, haven't tried pre/postcrowning for a fair while. I guess it should work if I had a FAST way of changing alignment at hand. I don't think an amulet of order or equivalent would be enough, or would it ?
