Well, ive heard a lot about it, and i have been thinking about it myself, but dont exactly know much about it. I wanted to ask a few questions, for someone who has been. I heard Lamaros in another post talking about a class he was taking that sounded intresting to me.

I was thinking about a class like that, anyone have any info. i.e. what its like, if its worth it, your opinion. Or, like most threads, just make it trail completely off the subject, that would be completely fine with me.

One of the hardest, but best classes to take (IMHO) is some form of philosophy or psychology. If you have a good teacher (like mine), the class will be fun, and you will learn alot.

Other than that, I don't have much advice. :-).

(I'm at UF, so it might be different where you are)

UF is University of Florida, based in Gainesville.

You may have noticed from Gator's games, where our football stadium says
"THIS IS....
THE SWAMP".

*Sigh*. We did pretty well versus Miami. Better than I expected.

Anyways, those are probably the classes in which you are going to think the most. That's what they are supposed to do. :-).
I'm majoring in psychology right now, minoring in History. I think I'll get a degree in Psychology.
Maybe one in Philosophy too.

I got a handy-dandy college guide to the best colleges in the nation from US News, so I'll see whats the best in CA. My home state, BTW.

Ah. I moved from CA the year after I was born. Moved out here into the middle of nowhere, aka, my town.

(Ok, there's 200k people, but it's _still_ the middle of nowhere. :-))

I like CA better than here in terms of environment, but the people are a little bit crazy there. :-). (Especially around San Fran.)

BAck to OT: Yeah, I was doing a BA.

I found Philosophy really easy and, at first, really enjoyable.

Then I realised it was all a waste of time and stopped going (to all my classes).

The problem I have with philosophy is that once you reach a certain point there is nothing left to argue; in the end everything comes down too a difference of opinion.
Having said that it is a good way to exercise the mind and analytical skills. Though it's not for everyone. It's a typical logical subject, not really as creative as one might think.

Everything ends up just comming down to assumptions, which in essence is like an argument about which is the best fruit:

A: Apples are best.
B: Oranges are best.

It's all subjective. You can never reach a point of true objectivity, thus you can never reach absolute truth.

I find I can often argue both sides of an argument with equal skill and passion, should it be needed (something that causes my family and friends no end of grief, as I usually argue oposiing views simply because no one else is there to argue them).

Le Grand is seriously in the middle of nowhere (listed it in other thread) only has appprox. 3000 people, the closest town is about 15 min away and only has a 100k pop.(small). BTW; I used to live in San Bernadino (Loma Linda area).
BTWA; Just had to say this, McDonald's may not be fun but its the only crap around here, it's either that or learn to program well really quickly.

I think the people who do that are mostly single parents or metally disabled...I'd rather die first before ending up in some dead-end job like that (for life) (where's the money? show me the money ;) )
