Iridium is element 77 on the periodic table. It's a heavy metal often found with platinum. Change the ending to -a and you get a feminine pseudonym. Quite an appropriate name for a dwarven miner (as in the RP threads), actually. Ekaterin is a character in the later books of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series. I identify with her because she's rather reserved and unworldly and her life has been controlled by other people, but she's very gracious and dignified, with a lot of talent she hasn't had the chance to use. (Also, it can be abbreviated to Kat, which is nice because I really like cats, or to Eka, which is almost the same as my real name, Eva.) |
