I'm playing gray elven wizard Expl:50. I know all spells I think, but when I cast example acid ball it goes like this: (I hope this will work)
###########
#...***...#
#...*@*...#
#...***...#
###########

I have seen people casting really big spells and damn those spells rules. So can anybody teach me some spell casting??
Version of Adom is 1.1.1.

It depends on how large your willpower is, I think,.
The larger the willpower, the bigger the ball.

Woa, are there really big ball spells? Oh, yeah, they mentioned it in the manual :p

It'd be cool to be a walking fireball...

It starts when your willpower hits 32.

With a cheated mage lvl 50 stats 99, the ball spells clear out quite a bit of the dungeon :)

Raise your Wi, the ball spells will get bigger.

The area of the spell increases by one based on willpower, in increments of 16 IIRC. So, 16 to 31 = 1 square, 32 to 47 = 2 squares, etc.
Something like that...

WHat, so are you saying that 1-15 = 0 squares?

No, it really works in increments of 8, but it only kicks in when you reach 32 or higher.

No, it works in increments of 16. It would work in increments of 8, but then you wouldn't get a ball for the area of impact, as the diameter would be an even number, and it has to be odd 'cause you have to be in the middle, and a diameter 4 ball doesn't have a middle square. Like so:
***
*X*
***
There you are, in the middle, OTOH,
 **
****
****
 **
that diameter 4 thing doesn't have a square to be the center point. This one with a diameter of 5 works again, see,
  *
 ***
**X**
 ***
  *

Wi:1 you would get a 1*1 ball, but 3*3 is the minimum.
Wi:8 you'd get a 2*2 ball, but 3*3 is the minimum.
Wi:16 you get a 3*3 ball.
Wi:24 you'd get a 4*4 ball, but you don't.
Wi:32 you get a 5*5 ball.
Wi:40 you'd get 6*6, but you don't.
Wi:48 you get a 7*7 ball.

...etc. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I remember the system works. Don't play many spellcasters, though, so I'm not totally sure that's what the balls look like.

Bored, so I'll see how the list continues
Wi:56 diameter 8
Wi:64 diameter 9
Wi:72 10
Wi:80 11
Wi:88 12
Wi:96 13, which would look like
###############

#..*********..#
#.***********.#
#******@******#

There's an elementalist with a Wi of at least 96 casting a big ass fireball. It's 2:10am so I'll go to sleep now and add colours later.
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Radius 2
I've tried with my wizard with WI:19.
In his spell overview it states i have range 2. And when i cast a ball spell with an outlaw on the place i named 1 in this little drawing, he didn't get hit.

To 99? 99 is the maximum you can get, and you're not very likely to achieve it in a normal game. Stats of 40 or 50 are superb for a normal game.

i've downloaded the 0.9.9 Gamma 12 version. I've edited my char, but he keeps on running out of luck. It's very bad, cause i can't hit other creatures eventhough i have lv 15 on my skill. How do i fix this?

Don't use that version, it's waaaaay old. If you want things easy, download 0.9.9g16pr2 and google for adomf/wadomf, which is an editor.

Or you could do what Chris says and try to play the game like it's meant to be played.

Cheatin is easy in version 1.0.0 just look at my threads cheating 1, 2, 3 or if you play version 1.1.1 it's harder to cheat but all you need is a clibing set and a climbing skill lv of 100 cos when you copy levels from the tmp files in the folder tmpdat it telprots you next to the Stone Circle there is that your question answered Agilan?
