How to enter 'The overgrown ruins of an ancient complex, maybe an ancient temple'? It's located in north-west from a Tiny hut. Entrance is green.

You need to have generated a scertain number of characters before you are allowed to enter that place. Your current character won't get in no matter what you do, only characters generated after you have reached the condition is allowed entry...

It's not an important place, just a neat little "side quest" where you can pick up a lot of nifty equipment if you can get past the extremely dangerous monsters who live there.

VERY hard. Those killer bugs are probably no match for you now. very dissapointing when you lose a high level PC to it...

Ah, but greater claw bugs, now... those, a level 1 wizard with a good bolt spell and good perception can easily handle. That is, if he doesn't try going down the stairs or taking on killer bugs until he's at least level 15 or so...

Is there a challenge game where a new character immediately takes on Bugville and then leaves the Chain? There ought to be.

If you started with a spellbook of invisibility and a deacent bolt spell that would not have been entierly impossible back in the day...

Now that the bugs see invisible things have gotten a tad more complicated...

Oh, all you need is the bolt spell; you just have to see and shoot them while they're heading for you but before they get to you, obviously staying around the edges of the screen so you can esecape if necessary. I've gotten to level 13 before that way.

Oh, yeah sure if you just stay in the surface...

I though you meant cleaning out the temple... Once you go down the stairs it become quite brutal :P

level 13? I used to start off every single spellcaster by going to the bug temple and kill greater clawbugs and getting food from the MM until I got my bolt spell high enough to take on killer bugs from a sufficient distance with sufficient luck. THe highest I ever got was level 29 before a killer bug got too close to me. 127 to -84 HP in one turn. Ah well...

That's a cool stratewgy to start a spellcaster with, especially a wizard.

You'd just have to gain levels and equipment from the bugs until you're able to survive downstairs.... I wouldn't say it's impossible, but difficult? Definitely.
