My best game yet:Gray Elf Wizard.Runed Trident , Rehetep Stuff , Sun´s messenger (slays undead).Good stuff otherwise , too , a few artifacts. Good thing:36 spells and ~36 books.Bad thing:starving to death on way out from library.Oh ,and I´m permanently invisible and got the Water Orb!No jokes on this thread please;I´m not in the mood for them..... :-( (very many of these....)
BTW:I don´t have create item spell , just so you know it.....

I don't think that Gray Elven WIzard has Survival skill. :) Praying is good.

I'm really sorry I'll have to say this, but I just certainly cannot leave the irony between your nick and your post unnoticed...

A good way to avoid the starving death is to haul ass to the arena level as early as possible and hang out there a while stocking up on Cooked Lizards... 200 - 300 blessed ones will last you for years (considering you do find the ocational ration and corpse along the way after all).

I have never had a character starve to death if I make it to the arena, if possible I run there right after finishing the raider quest (that way you can afort to clean out all the traders a few times too).

When I play chaotic character, I kill all of the traders who don't sell cooked lizards. That usually works quite well. Perhaps it scares some of the remaining traders to switch their products ;)

Enjoy: Praying is good. Also, Were there any stomafillia bushes in the Rift? I use blessed stomafillia herbs rather than cooked lizards

Were there any corpses in the library by the time you were done?

Caladriel: The drawback with blessed stomafillia is the fact that you'll be bloated for a *long* time. And bloated is, IMHO, not a good thing most of the time. The exceptions is of course when you read spellbooks or spend time in a non-hostile area for a long time.

Well it's not very bad, but beeng bloated does slow you down and lower your DV in a simmilar fasion as beeng burdened. In addition it prevent you from eating any interesting corpses you get hold off. It's very anoying if you have just eatern a blessed stomafilia and then finaly find that long awaited blink dog corpse, or simmilar. Unless you have a lot of holy water handy that corpse will be long gone by the time you can eat again...

As I mostly play monks, speed is a VERY important factor for me. So being satiated or bloated is not a good thing. And Jan Erik has aöready pointed out the bad other bad effects of being bloated so I won't repeat it. :)

Well, suppose you run into a corpse you really wanna eat when bloated in ToHK for example, with no food preservation and/or holy water? :)

I always Starve to death, that or a stone block, or a gelatinous cube.

Most Pathetic Death:
Buddy, The level 1 human farmer, got his head smashed by a stone block on level 1 of some ancient caves.
He did not vanquish any monsters.
He was lawfully aligned

Locke: True, blessed stomafillia is not too nice (unless you are playing a troll). Why not unbless them ? (Won't spoil unless asked, you should be able to find it out anyway)

Oh, and NaZgul: Gray Elven wizards CAN have survival. There is one starsign that gives the PC survival-skill (can't remember which one, though)
