Patches for ADOM Winbeta 4 and Linux versions (also, you can make the latter work with ADOM-Sage)
They fix
* Monsters no longer reach as high experience levels.
* Monsters no longer fight in a blind rage.
* Artifacts available in a game are now random like they're supposed to be.
* The 'skilled' talents no longer crash the game
(Their effects are twice what's listed in the manual though,
this hasn't been changed.)
The patches are at
http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~houeland/adom/
Thanks to TOGU for this. ;-)

Yep.
I haven't tested the Windows Version that much yet, though.

I have no idea.
The site hasn't been updated in a couple months, so he must be workin'.

These aren't exactly 'bugs' though are they? These are just things that Thomas has included and which players don't particularly like...

The blind rage is actually a bug. It was supposed to have the monsters attack you very strongly, but they kill themselves.
Uber-Jackals also seem like a bug, from the point of view that they get experianced wayyyyyy too fast.

Thomas has made such wise desicions before that I'm sure he'll tone down the rate at which monsters get tougher as you kill them more. It's just so stupid when jackals are more dangerous than berserker emperors and such.

He ought to just code it so that after a number of kills you don't get weapon marks for the monsters.

Blind rage is a feature, but again I'm not all that sure how many people(if even thomas) want that kind of insta-kills in the game. Eg normal earth elementals can't get a scratch on you even when outnumbered 4 to 1. Then suddenly one decides to berferk, and kills you in one turn from full hp. Yippee. Plus, there's the bug with monsters occasionally killing themselves (not fun when it's a ghost lord you're looking to kill as the first dwarven quest).
If you're feeling happy, don't worry, it'll go away.

Heh.
Get the new patch from the site.
Also you have to have the patch in the same folder as that ADOM version.

Just wanted to bump this up. It may be unofficial, so not everybody might approve playing it, but IMO it fixes some of the game's bad sides, like überjackals! Yeah, well, it might make the game a bit easier, but the way monsters get über just isn't fair, at least not for melee characters. Have you all given it a try?

If I didn't make it clear already, download this! It's great! Didn't realize before trying how much fixing such small things improves your gaming experience.

I don't know, but I downloaded the windows version, which I then patched. No difference, AFAICT. You do have Winblows, don't you? I've the 98SE version.

WinXP, but I don't like the windowed version. I like to play the DOS version fullscreen w/ a custom font. Kinda got used to that..

I hadn't even tried the windows version before downloading it for this patch. I have also always played full screen. IMO, the pros are bigger than the cons with this patch. At least try it, I think it's worth it :)

I dunno if ADOM-Sage can do full screen, but that's the version I use.

ADOM-Sage will indeed run in full screen mode under WinXP. I like Winbeta 4 though.
